Cost of living payment

Hi everyone
Having some trouble wrapping my head around the eligibility requirements for the cost of living payment. I had the previous two col payments and haven't received this one yet. My uc was paid into my bank on the 26th of November. Am I eligible for this payment?
Getting a little worried as some friends/family have received it and I'm still waiting. I know it can be anytime until the 22nd but I've had it quite quickly the past two times. The only text I received said 'The £300 Cost of Living Payment will be paid automatically from 31 October to 19 November. For more information search online for DWP Cost of Living Payment.' which is obviously the wrong dates. Hopefully it comes after the weekend if I'm eligible!

There is another 13 days for this to be paid, and you had a payment during the required time so you will be fine, just be patient OP. It doesn’t matter when you received it last time or what your friends have got, just wait it out I’m afraid.

PEr HMG website:

You are eligible for the Cost of Living Payment of £299 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 13 November 2023 to 12 December 2023

Soon the face of it you're eligible. Payments are staged over the period from 5-22 Feb 2024.

Babyroobs · 09/02/2024 15:00

Yes you should be eligible but as others have said there is still plenty of time for it to be paid. If it isn't paid by the deadline you can report a missing payment on the Gov.Uk site.

Proseccosam82 · 09/02/2024 18:38

Why? There are 13 more days left to receive it. The payments are spread out over those days. The system doesn’t no who your friends are - it means absolutely nothing when they get there’s.

Relax. You’ve got till the 22nd then you can report if it hasn’t arrived. If you are entitled to it you will get it.

Sometimes I think the worst thing they did was announcing the dates people get so panicked if it’s not the first day or they hope it will be the first day 5 and plan a bill around it.

I said I understand that we have until the 22nd to wait. My main point was not really understanding the eligibility criteria.

Why don’t you understand the eligibility criteria? You received a payment in the required period?

XenoBitch · 09/02/2024 21:32

There is a window of a a couple of weeks in which to get it.
In the past, I have got it on day 1 or shortly after. Not had this one yet, but I am not worried.

10ThousandSpoons · 09/02/2024 22:03

Why are you worried? It's ages to go until the final payments are made. If you need food is there a food bank near you?

coldtrees · 09/02/2024 22:09

@TeaKitten anything actually helpful to add or?

I think they were trying to be helpful? What is it that means you're unsure if you are eligible?

Are you serious? You said you didn’t understand the eligibility criteria, even though you received a payment during the eligible period. So I asked why you don’t understand? As in, is there something else you are stuck on? Or have you actually just posted to snipe at people trying to answer you? If you won’t say what it is that you are worried about, how can anyone answer? Even if it’s just for reassurance, I provided that in my first answer, you still were not sure, so I asked further…

The page on the gov website is a bit confusing.

There was a £300 colp due for payment in October/November and which related to receiving UC in a Assessment Period (AP) earlier in 2023.

The current payment, i.e. that being dealt out in tranches this month, is £299. That's paid to people who received UC for an AP ending between 13/11/23 and 12/12/23.

Hope this helps.

Thank you this makes a lot of sense! The .gov website was really confusing to me

I’m still waiting for my col payment this time round too. I received it on the first day all of the other times but nothing as of yet for this one. Don’t worry you’re not alone. As of today, still nothing has been received.

Oh! Fingers are crossed then! I think it doesn’t help that I received earlier col payments on the release dates previously and now this time , a week later nearly, and nothing. Hopefully it’ll be this week if not tomorrow! It is worrying though and hard to not over think that we may not receive it but hopefully we will!

Katie3GS · 13/02/2024 07:56

So after waiting a week into the scheduled payments, I’ve finally received mine x

Not unless you had one in the assessment period ending 13/11/23 to 12/12/23.

Coco189 · 14/02/2024 12:35

Maybe I'm thick but when I go on website it says I'm eligible for cost of living payment if I was in reciept between 18th aug-17th Sept assessment period or am I reading it wrong 🤔

Coco189 · 14/02/2024 12:36

Sorry just can't get my head round it

OhmygodDont · 14/02/2024 12:36

That will be for the payment that was made before Christmas.

OhmygodDont · 14/02/2024 12:37

August to September was the £300 payment. November - December is the £299 payment.
