Was the hardship payment sent from the council?

Were you entitled to any payment from your assessment period that ended 13th November - 12th December?

Knoxy2018 · 07/02/2024 06:53

The job centre done the hardship payment while i was there I don’t think it comes from the council, but I received the hardship payment on 15th November which is in the time frame and received the text just worrying I won’t receive it ?

Was rent paid out of your UC claim for the dates you had a nil payment? Or did the sanction take your claim down to nil?

Nousernamesavaliable · 07/02/2024 07:02

If you had a nil UC award during the qualifying period I didn't think you would get it.

Knoxy2018 · 07/02/2024 07:05

I was paid the hardship payment so I could pay rent and for food ?

I guess you will have to wait and see if it arrives in your bank by the cut off point then.

Knoxy2018 · 07/02/2024 07:11

that is exactly what happened to me so I should get it right ?

That says you ‘may’ still be able to get it. So nobody can tell you, you will just have to wait and see.

But isn't that idea of the sanction? If you aren't doing what is asked of you they sanction. It's simple

Knoxy2018 · 07/02/2024 07:17

I’m not talking about being sanctioned I’m talking about if I will still receive it as it say I will everywhere I look if you aren’t going to be helpful don’t comment

You are being rude. The pp was trying to help.

Nobody can tell you. Wait to see if the payment goes in.

It doesn’t say you WILL it says you MAY. It’s a frustrating wait I agree, but there isn’t a definite answer

SgtJuneAckland · 07/02/2024 07:24

Why don't you ask DWP?

Queijo · 07/02/2024 07:25

If you had a rent payment included in your UC payment that was received from the assessment dates you will be entitled to the COL payment even if your statement was nil.

Is your rent paid directly to your landlord?

Arthurnewyorkcity · 07/02/2024 07:26

Put a note in your UC journal to ask your work coach?

If the rent isn’t paid directly to her landlord then that’s not the case. Nil payment due to sanction = no cost of living payment. However the hardship payment may change that

So you don’t have an official rent element at all then?

Lougle · 07/02/2024 07:29

I think you should get it @Knoxy2018 . When they first started, you wouldn't have got it. Then the Parliamentary Committee reviewed it and the rules were changed to say that getting a hardship payment would still qualify. It's not as definite as 'will' but I think you should, reading all the criteria.

I’ve also put this in my journal but they never seem to answer also the reason I got sanctioned was because I was at my nanas funeral and couldn’t make it to my appointment which I told them and was still sanctioned

OP posts:
Numberfish · 08/02/2024 21:10

Aw hope you’re ok after the funeral. Have you queried why they would sanction you for funeral leave if you can provide a notice of funeral arrangements?

OztoLdn · 09/02/2024 07:04

Help me create a budget please.
Family of 4 with two primary aged kids (state school)

  1. Rent 3 bedroom 2 bathrooms semi detached house in London zone 3 (West, or South West)
  2. council rates
  3. electricity and gas
  4. water bill
  5. internet
  6. groceries
  7. phone provider for 2 phones
  8. 3 days of afternoon school club for two kids
  9. 2 days a week commute from zone 3 for 2 adults
  10. swimming lessons for 2 kids once a week
  11. gym membership no classes just gym access for 1 adult don’t need anything fancy

I’m excluding from here family outings, eating out, car payments, petrol, holidays, money for clothes/shoes/ beauty.
What else do I need to add/consider?

I'm sorry that's absolutely disgusting that you were sanctioned for attending a funeral
