Hi
so I've sent a message to uc but in the mean time I don't know if anyone knows. So the assessment period for this cost of living payment was the same one as the month we get £0 from Uc as my other half is paid 4 weekly it's 2 payments in this assessment period
So because it was £0 during this assessment period does it mean we won't get it.

Pretty shit if so as we get it every other month but Feb because of the 4 weekly pay and the way the assessment period goes and that's what it's based on and from what I've read online if its 0 we won't get it 😔

Sorry, you won’t qualify :(

Biscuitandacuppa · 09/05/2023 23:19

Unfortunately I think you are correct and you won’t get it. UC really doesn’t work well for 4 weekly salary’s if payday is close to the assessment date.

C12 · 09/05/2023 23:22

Thanks for your replys it is so unfair though 😔just because the assessment period they've picked we didn't get a payment we don't qualify for any help even though if it had been a little later or earlier we would have!!!

Sorry you won't get it. It is unfair although I never quite understand why employers can't just pay people monthly ? Four weekly just seems odd !

OneFrenchEgg · 10/05/2023 21:43

I'm sorry op. I genuinely don't understand some of the decisions and criteria government use. Surely if they know UC fluctuates being eligible at some point over eg two periods would have been better. I hope you manage ok.

A lot of American companies pay on a weekly schedule either 2 or 4

C12 · 11/05/2023 17:23

Thank you for your responses, it's so frustrating because I don't know why they haven't looked into this. It should be taken into account that some people get paid 4 weekly so to look at the following month for people like this. Its so frustrating 😔
The other half works for tesco and they pay 4 weekly
I'm on monthly pay

At least hopefully if you've missed out this time and the two pay days falling in one assessment period only happens once a year you will know that you should hopefully get the next 2 payments that are due. Some people who are paid weekly or fortnightly may also not qualify ( depending how much they earn ) but that can happen 4 or 5 times a year so that may put some people at risk of getting nothing more then once.

C12 · 11/05/2023 20:40

Oh gosh I didnt even think of that actually. I assume that must be possible too then! Yes we're lucky it only happens once a year we get nothing. Just sucks they've picked this one month to base it on

Do you not think the government have done this on purpose??

Same happened to me cos my crappy work didnt give me my Christmas hours till feb.

OneFrenchEgg · 11/05/2023 21:58

That's rotten @Redlarge missing out is horrible

spaceychimp80 · 12/05/2023 15:43

That seems very unfair. Hope you get the next one.

Ho, just wondering if anyone has had a missed cost of living payment and reported it previously? If so how long did it take to get the payment? Thanks xxx
