@Minikievs Great suggestion I'll go with daffs. She got me a housewarming present and a gift to cheer me up after a tough week so I feel i have to 😫

TwoManyKids · 25/05/2023 11:57

Had a voucher so manages to get some chocs and a card from Tesco for 25p!

moimichme · 25/05/2023 12:22

TwoManyKids Result!!

I had three NSDs in a row this week, woohoo.

Paid rent and for holiday club for ds today, and also got a few gifts and the M&S beauty box today (also being split up as gifts - it's not all for me!).

Good luck everyone. Not too many days left of May now.

I wasn’t going to spend till pay day but decided to treat us all spent £4 each for a rip off bog standard vanilla icecreams out of a van. It’s hot weather I’ve spent £50 on some leather sandals I’m hoping will last into next summer as well but I’m not sure I can justify it when I could’ve just gotten some out of Primark, I think I will have to join for next month

TwoManyKids · 26/05/2023 06:47

£8.50 yesterday for curry meal deal.

Pseudonamed · 26/05/2023 07:08

40 yesterday for top up bits in aldi. Have a no spend day today as home studying but realised IF and its only and IF I pass I get refunded the cost of the exam next month which was 146stg so fingers crossed for that as I could do with it!
June has to be a frugal month as July is hectic with weddings and people flying over from different countries so lots of socialising so need to reign June in. We have a night away booked but this has already been paid for. I am sure something will crop up though as it always seems to.

Queengrimsby · 26/05/2023 12:51

I was doing brilliant until my cat swallowed some rope and cost me 5000, low spend May has quickly transitioned onto poverty June, stay tuned.

TwoManyKids · 28/05/2023 10:44

£93 yesterday- hair and parking. I'm telling myself it's a bargin as highlights used to cost £183.
£17.99 on a washing line today and £31 on water- so far today and its only 11am 😓

Pseudonamed · 29/05/2023 23:44

Is it June yet? I need to stop spending. ANOTHER top up shop today costing 40euro. I mean we literally need nothing else for the week but I just feel like I am forever popping to a shop. I am going to do a full stocktake i think this weekend and see what we have and can use and make a meal plan as it is a joke what we are wasting currently.

Rainbow1901 · 30/05/2023 11:02

Another one desperate for the end of May!! Hairdressers Appointment today - so £30 to go.
The Garden had treatment for the lawn this morning but no bill yet - that might be a June spend!!
Our front wall is being repaired after the company doing the excavation work hit our wall with a digger bucket - we submitted an insurance claim against contractors doing the work for the Gas company which has paid out - but the builder says damage is worse than first thought so we will have to fund the difference! Argggh!! Could be worse our next door neighbour had a complete two wall rebuild after they undermined her wall foundations resulting in a dangerous wall that had the potential to collapse onto our car if parked on the driveway. I need to win the postcode lottery and not just tenner!! I need a break from all the hassle!!
On the plus side - all other bills are paid for May and have paid off one credit card which is why I'm in for low spend months. -Let's get ready for June.

Decafflatteplease · 30/05/2023 11:15

Another one waiting for June! Although we are starting off June with a car service and MOT so 🤞🤞🤞 it's ok, just the service and MOT is £350ish plus any work. Last time it went in for a service it cost us £2000 so I'm understandably nervous this time around 😱

MrsTwiggy · 30/05/2023 11:25

Hi everyone. I'd like to join you all to get my June spending down. I've had a bit of an expensive month with a few big purchases - I had been saving pennies for a while for them and they were necessary, but I find spending such large amounts of money quite stressful in the current economic climate.

In June, I really need to plan our food shops better and get our top up shops under control - I always find we're spending stupid amounts on little things during the week.

Pseudonamed · 30/05/2023 14:08

Top ups are the biggest downfall here.

Anyway I have just been through the freezer so tonight it will be lamb shanks with the bag of frozen mash I had stashed in the freezer along with a large tub of kfc gravy, broccoli and babycorns.

Also in the fridge were peppers and tomatoes looking sorry for themselves so i shall make a soup out of them for my own lunch for the rest of the week.

No spend day today cos I am not moving from the house. I found a quarter bottle of wine in the press too so that will go nicely with my lamb. No DP this evening as he is away working.

Hello everyone, I am back home, catching up with the latest posts just now.
My figures didn't change, as we were spending from holiday pot in the last 1.5 week. I hope June will be good for us. We will have some expenses, as husband is painting the house, getting nursery ready, we need new window blinds for bathroom and our bedroom too.

Off for grocery shopping today.
The most stupid thing happened while we were away. Husband switched off the electrical contact to the fridge and everything went spoiled and stinky. Smell was awful, as there was some minced beef left. Ugh. In case anyone's wondering, I didn't kill him 😂I was bit angry, but there wasn't much food and mistakes happen. Going on and on about it wouldn't help. I guess I can cross off the list deep fridge and freezer cleaning before I have the baby. Now just normal clean when needed. Lesson learned though, there will be huge note "FRIDGE!!!!" for the future, so he'll know to stay away from it.

I had my midwife appointment today, all is looking well and baby's turned head down yay. I was bit stressed he'll stay breech.

Bloody hell 😮How's your cat, feeling OK?

moimichme · 31/05/2023 17:07

Queen that's awful about your cat - I hope it's OK now!

Payday at last! Phew. I had £60 left in my current account last night and my credit card was covering spends last week...

I'm going to keep on this frugal track for June, apart from a quick trip to London we're taking midway through the month. Won't be cheap, but needs must.

My banking app says I've spent £440 more than this time last month, which isn't so bad considering that £400 of that was our hotel in Edinburgh. So I've 'overspent' but that cost came out of holiday budget.

Hopefully everyone will have a better June. @Orcubed are you going to start a new thread?

JamSandle · 31/05/2023 17:09

Will there be a thread for June?
