Tayto I'm not sure how long you're on the thread but how is your dd old enough to be drinking & working & girlies dd having a boyfriend ShockHmm

Happierwithouthim · 17/05/2023 21:54

€622 balance on holiday home paid today
€250 from my revolut vault which included dsis's share & that leaves just bf's share & the other couple who are coming. I've tax back in my wages this week so I think I'll pay bf's share too because he has paid half the flights for our holiday rather than just his quarter.

BigSkies2022 · 18/05/2023 15:28

£32 in Aldi today. With the £14 in the butcher yesterday, that's the groceries budget done now until next Wednesday. Which should be perfectly possible, except I didn't pick up eggs, or arborio rice.

Ddog is a bit smelly and demanding at the moment, so need to take him out. He vommed on the landing carpet again yesterday - always the same spot. I have applied steam, bicarb of soda and vinegar to rescue said carpet about once a fortnight since he came to us over four years ago, and I have had enough! DH would rather have a minging carpet until we can afford to replace it but I say no! I told him (DH, not Ddog) that I would be ripping up the carpet in the next month, and we would live with bare boards until the budget permitted something different. Push comes to shove, I will paint the boards, and stick a washable rug or two down.

Still no costing from roofer guy - next week will tell all.

Happierwithouthim · 18/05/2023 16:20

€140 on fissure sealing & check up for ds
€20.50 on lunch for ds & I

He also had a verruca frozen off.

I was awake during the night last night & dc have no homework today so I think I'll have a little nap.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/05/2023 18:05

Happier dd has a boyfriend and asked Ystd if he can stay over on Fri night 😱 I am not ready for that yet!! They grow up too fast.

Spent £25 in the garden place Ystd, that's all my summer bedding plants plus a couple of other bits I needed done though.

£25 fuel today.

Am now down to £50 in my bank which will just be for food.

Had an email at work to say a pay increase has been agreed, we're getting a one off payment in June and our pay is going up a bit. When you work it out it's nothing amazing really, will work out to be about £30 extra a month 🫤

Rang my dentist Ystd and found out we haven't got a dentist anymore as he's gone private 🤬 no chance of getting an nhs dentist anywhere in Somerset now. This Government are an absolute disgrace, it makes me so angry.

To see a dentist will now cost me £70, same for dd or I can sign up to their payment plan of £13 a month.

Ffs.

Tayto a Viking Festival sounds like a grand weekend activity. I went to the Viking exhibition at The British Museum a few years ago and it was fascinating.

Fingers crossed for the checks Curls.

Spent £8.27 buying a book for my holiday on Amazon.

Was at the office today and had lunch with a friend. I think she took pity on how my life is imploding and paid for me. It was lovely to see her and we had a rather jolly time. Just what I needed. Back to the office tomorrow.

What does the dental plan cover for your £13, girlie? In theory, I have an NHS dentist, but actually, any fillings I might ever need would be white ones, my choice, so private, not NHS. Hygienist services are private, not NHS (but prevent a lot of plaque and disease, so dunno why this is not funded). The veneers I eventually got to fix the broken front teeth that the NHS could not are private. DH needed a root canal and cap treatment this year, not available on the NHS, because it's too long and complicated and no government wants to fund that much treatment to keep a tooth. So our NHS dental treatment boils down to the examination and x-rays.

On the other hand, the NHS has provided masses of fantastic orthodontic care for DS, and if he wanted to continue with more surgery and braces to haul his jaws into perfect alignment, it would also be provided by the NHS. This is a huge increase on the care available compared to when I was a teenager/young adult.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/05/2023 12:48

so i pay £50 per month for the 4 of us and everything except cosmetic work is included
braces and orthodontics are being assessed under nhs and will be treated as so if ds meets the criteria. Dd didn’t as her sorted itself out
we get 6 month checks inc scale and polish, white fillings, dc get fluoride when they are there. Including emergency treatment and usually that’s same day
regular x ray (annually I think)
if we are away and something happens we can see a local denplan dentist as well
don’t think crowns are iso i pay £50 per month for the 4 of us and everything except cosmetic work is included

Unescorted · 19/05/2023 18:11

Dentists around here are £27per person per month. For that you get 1 check up and one clean per year "for free". Everything else is additional. I may have a explained the concept of free.

There are no NHS dentists left around here and we are not covered by emergency dental services because our postcode and county don't match.... People are heading to a&e for fillings.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/05/2023 19:24

Not impressed by costa tgtg was all sandwich and toasted use by today. No cake
I know it’s random but
anyway frozen what I can but will be chucking some sadly

Happierwithouthim · 19/05/2023 19:39

You inspired me to check the app life and as I'm in town I'll get an Aldi TGTG in 45 mins, if I'm disappointed in this one I'm done with TGTG unless the fabulous butchers ever comes up trumps

RumBananaSundae · 19/05/2023 19:59

Evening all - bit of a spendy one today. Feel I’ve let the side down somewhat. Had a panic that I wouldn’t be able to fit everything I needed to carry in my handbag so bought a new bag. Now £195 down and have a bag I could fit in (with a few friends).

Ended up at the office and ate my weight in cheese and grapes this afternoon. There was an event on and so much food was left over. I think next time I might take some Tupperware. There were bags and bags of food being thrown out.

All the talk about dentists is making me think I should look at plans.

Happierwithouthim · 19/05/2023 20:35

I've spent loads in last two hours rum

I'm impressed with my TGTG from Aldi & there was another woman collecting one too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/05/2023 20:36

That is good, I’m done with them I think

Happierwithouthim · 19/05/2023 21:08

Off to google ricotta recipes 😂

WeightoftheWorld · 19/05/2023 21:37

Yes I remember when your DD was much younger too Girlie (although I had a different username then)! Rubbish for you about the dentist though. Funnily enough I'm overdue a check-up myself just so busy to sort it, and DS has never been yet. DH and DD went today for their check-ups (also overdue), no issues thankfully and DH registered DS whilst he was there and he has his first check-up booked for next month. We are all NHS patients thankfully.

Spends today was £2 bus to playgroup, £1 playgroup, £2 bus back from playgroup, £2.50ish on a pack of cupcakes from Sayers on the way home at DD's excited request, £10.80 in the dry cleaners collecting my winter coat. It really does add up when you write it all down doesn't it?!

Happierwithouthim · 19/05/2023 22:07

There's no dental care here under HSE really, scale & polish is covered & a filling per year

ememem84 · 20/05/2023 09:09

crazy week. Ds poorly - strep. But doing fine on antibiotics. Dd on them too as a precaution. Super.

Timetoswitch · 20/05/2023 11:55

Haven’t been in the thread much as sorting out the arrangements for Ddad.

The DC are away on a residential trip this weekend. I really miss them 😂 I think I find them a bit comforting at the moment, but of course I was really encouraging about them having a great time. I might not miss them when they arrive back tired and grumpy with a load of dirty washing tomorrow.

We’ve been out for a walk down by the sea, and had a Mr Whippy 😋

We haven’t made our plans for later but might go to lighting and DIY store (we know how to have fun). We might walk to the pub too as we won’t have grumbling children in tow!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/05/2023 12:54

Oo strep is nasty hope ds feels better soon

£££££ on extra washing hospital parking and petrol as fil in hospital, on the mend now
food wasn’t too bad £120 as going to have a cupboard use up week but lots of takeout last week means I have filled the freezer

ememem84 · 20/05/2023 16:28

He’s fine. That’s the crazy thing. He had a sore throat on tues I sent him to school. Tues evening he couldn’t eat (unlike him) so took him to dr Wednesday. He’s been fine generally since.

the issue is getting the drugs into dd. I literally have to sit on her to get them in. Ffs.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/05/2023 18:04

Will she be bribed?
