What can I add to lentil soup to make it interesting/ more protein? They buy it in at work, corporate hospitality, from a deli. They send it in flasks of ten portions. There’s often loads left over over so I have a soup mug worth for lunch and then bring another portion or two home for dinner/ the weekend. I am so bored of lentil soup though so I need to spice it up somehow.

It does save money but it’s getting a bit depressing living on lentil soup, leftover single serve lurpak butter portions and toast ( I do buy bread!)

Roasted cauliflower with paprika, chilli and garlic.

Lemon juice, drizzle of olive oil, a spoonful of lime pickle or similar and sprinkle of those super crunchy dehydrated onions.

Fresh thyme perks up lentil soup very well

Add some chicken and spices and turn it into a curry or tagine with rice or couscous.

We get ham pieces from local butcher, they are offcuts from slices, £2.50 a bag 500g
Sausage some spicy, some less so from Polish shop, good value.

That looks gorgeous and I like your table cloth. Love a bit of cheese on toast for dunking with lentil soup.

Smoked paprika

Kidney beans are a cheap, healthy and tasty addition.

I make lentil soup quite often and sometimes have it with onion Bhajis on top like croutons. Little swirl of green yoghurt and some coriander.

You can buy a pack of sliced chorizo from aldi for £2 - it has about 20 slices. Separate the slices and freeze them. Add 2 or 3 when you fancy a different soup - that'll last 8 soups! chi-ching

fried garlic on top like a dhal
