Energy Bill Support Payment - Utilita. Don't understand!

Hi,

I have attached a copy of my most recent bill (very much hope I have redacted all personal info from it!!) and I just cannot wrap my head around how the Energy Support Payment works. Please can someone explain in very simple terms?

In my mind, we used £178.78 of gas and electricity. We PAID £123.82 and then after that I just don't understand the maths... I am obviously missing something spectacularly, and since my entire job is data analysis this is somewhat embarrassing but I keep staring at it and can't work it out.

Utilita refund the £66 into your bank account - so does that mean we actually only paid £57.85 towards the £178.78 due... I just cannot wrap my head around this.

Your charges were £178.78
The £66 was credited to the electricity account and then debited again to send to your bank account
Your direct debit was £123.85

Your account was already in credit £355.25 and is now £300.32 in credit after your payments in and out

Credit balance £355.25 - £178.78 (charges) + [£66 - £66] cancel each other out + £123.85 (direct debit) = £300.32 (new credit balance)
