Energy Support from SSE (Southern Electric) - has anyone got theirs yet?

Just that really
Website and automated phone recordings say we (PAYG customers) will receive the voucher of £67 by the 11th of each month. I haven't received Octobers or Novembers and I check everyday.
They are blaming this on Royal Mail strikes yet I'm receiving every other piece of Mail without a problem

Has anyone had their support from SSE yet?

Im with British gas. I have called 8 times in 5 weeks. They lie constantly. Address incorrect - not an issue when billing me or taking the money flr the past 5 years.
Royal mail - i have received all other mail besides this.

Been told every time that its on the way and it never arrives. I formed a complaint today. Its got to the point where I dont even want it because apparently its an absolute farce to get the vouchers credited 🤷🏻‍♀️

Keroppi · 23/11/2022 22:22

Yes with sse and had two already

TheCrab9 · 23/11/2022 22:25

Whats the process once you get it? Only post offices do it? Is it long winded? Ive heard some peoples have been void and not worked

SnapCrackleandExplode · 23/11/2022 22:30

@Keroppi whaaat?! Can I ask whereabouts you are?
I'm in NW London, wondering if they are having difficulties with certain RM areas...

@TheCrab9 wow thats disgusting!

I find that highly irritating that they can take so quickly but have long winded problems in giving back smh

Im in South London but have searched on twitter and it seems like people from all over with all different companies still havent received even october like us 🥺

Disorientate · 23/11/2022 22:56

I'm with OVO and received the first credit directly into my account last month.

SnapCrackleandExplode · 23/11/2022 23:09

@TheCrab9 smh that's quite bad.

I have gas with SSE but electric with EDF and they have credited my smart account both months no delay.
I wonder why some companies are being slack with it?

Come back to this thread and let me know! Im apparently guaranteed to receive them on the 30th but i been hearing different dates for weeks. Will keep you posted if I get anything!

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 23/11/2022 23:22

I'm with Boost (part of OVO) and I've had nothing.
Their FAQ said smart meters were topped up automatically by the 7th of the month. I contacted them half way through October, they told me it would be by the 30th. Contacted them again in the first week of November, apparently there was a fault with my meter and it couldn't be applied. Hmm
The lady said she'd 'apply' for the voucher to be sent to me. She also admitted that if i hadn't chased it up they wouldn't have noticed i hadn't had it.

I still haven't received it.

Incidentally I couldn't get the... dunno what it's called... the £150(?) you can get if you're on some benefits last year. I was entitled to it, but apparently my postcode was wrong. What's the betting I don't get that either! (You don't have to apply this year, its done automatically)

I know it's 'free' money and I shouldn't complain but bloody hell I need it!

I thought they were only for the electric, in which case SSE won't be sending you one.
Or have I misunderstood something?

TheCrab9 · 23/11/2022 23:45

Yes you're right. Just electricity.

Aquathest · 23/11/2022 23:56

@WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie is right.

@SnapCrackleandExplode You only receive support from the company who is your electricity supplier. So it sounds like in your case, SSE are not in the wrong here.

SnapCrackleandExplode · 24/11/2022 01:07

@Aquathest oh lord! All this time I thought they were supposed to be helping with gas AND electric supplies.

So EDF who supply my electric have been topping up my meter but Southern Electric that supply my gas are not supposed to?!

SnapCrackleandExplode · 24/11/2022 01:13

Welllllll don't I feel like the biggest dick of all time.

1000 apologies people but ALL this time I thought the energy support scheme was for both GAS AND ELECTRICITY bills and not just electricity on its own.
I automatically assumed as the news keeps saying that winter is going to be hard, gas prices going up etc that they would be sending out a voucher for that also.

So please excuse me for not understanding and thanks for your replies

Not everyone has mains gas so that’s why they pay it via your electricity supplier.

I was with SSE (for both) but they moved me to OVO and I’ve found them really easy to deal with. They’ve been and changed my old meters for smart ones with no fuss. The £66 goes into my account a few days after my direct debit goes out.
