Why can't I see my daily gas usage with British Gas?

Hi,

By any chance does anyone know why I can only see my electric usage and not gas please? It's always been like this. Online and the BG app will only show electric usage despite having a smart meter for gas. I would just like to be able to get a rough idea of how much we're spending on central heating but don't want to spend hours in a phone queue, or will that be the only option to get it sorted?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I use the spreadsheets in this link to track expenditure. You can work out expenditure on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.

I have the same issue with Octopus.

I just downloaded an app called "Loop", and it's giving me regular updates so far for both fuels - loop.homes/

Thank you both, I'll look into those 😊

I'm with OVO Energy,,,I'm on a smart meter and get a daily breakdown on both my gas and electricity usage, I can just glance at my OVO app to find out what I'm using, just change suppliers if BG aren't giving you what you want.

I have the same problem. I can't even see gas usage on my smart meter.

Our gas smart metre can't be connected to the network (yet....) round here so I can only see electricity usage.

I’m the same, I was told the gas needs to be “commissioned” at a later time. No idea why.l it didn’t work when the smart meter was initially fitted.

We have this problem…we were told it is because the gas meter is a fair distance from the electric meter….the electric meter sends the reading using a 2g signal & its not strong enough to connect to the gas meter…..or something along those lines!! Is your gas meter at a distance to the electricity one!!
