hi i’m just hoping to see if there’s anyone who has applied for an energy grant for them. It says 4 weeks waiting time. Mine has been just over that and has said awaiting decision from 26/10/22 is this the final stage? how long have you waited?

My application has been a big mess up caused by British gas themselves I applied for electricity aears as my gas ok I pay the bill monthly . British Gas gave them my gas account number and details not my electricity which has £1400 arrears so they have paid £80 to my gas plus £150 now in credit on gas but electricity still in arrears I have contacted Energy Trust sent them my statements from Gas and Electricity they have sent to brtish gas querying this and now waiting to hear back.

Yummymummy53 · 16/01/2024 18:27

Hi mine has just gone to awaiting decision . Does this mean accepted ?

Yummymummy53 · 16/01/2024 20:40

Hi what was the outcome. X

Patsy59 · 17/01/2024 06:49

Finally had a call yesterday from BGET they have heard back from British Gas with Electricity
info which they confirmed they will be paying for me also. I also seen they have increased their grant to £2,000 arrears now.

Yummymummy53 · 17/01/2024 10:06

Mines says. Awaiting decision

Lollen · 17/01/2024 14:55

Also waiting to hear back but with the time it’s taking, British Gas have charged me an extra £100 on my electric. It’s so infuriating. You’d think they’d put a pause on payments whilst BGET investigate in the background.

Patsy59 · 17/01/2024 16:48

They confirm the amount of arrears with British Gas whilst it says awaiting decision usually means you have been accepted but they are awaiting confirmation of the amount, I even sent them my statements but said has to be confirmed with British gas a department no one can contact which is annoying

Yummymummy53 · 17/01/2024 18:43

My bill keeps rising every time I contact British Gas they ask for a reading and then send a new bill . Still no answer still says awaiting decision

Patsy59 · 17/01/2024 18:54

Its a ridiculous system tbh and very frustrating you can phone bget but wait for option 6 I think it is (calling about something else) they answer quick on that one. But guess they will say waiting for British gas to confirm amount apparently they send bulk applications on a Monday and Friday back to Bget

Izzy2023 · 25/01/2024 13:32

Hi
For those that got accepted please could you advise/help regarding the application process. Is it sufficient for me to just give the askbill expenditure report or do I need to speak to an agency? I have tried contacting citizens advice but they said I need to wait for a call back from the energy/fuel team and can't seem to get through to anyone to discuss this. And there seens to be 2 grants available 1)BGET and 2)individual and families support fund. Are they under the same application? Thanks

Patsy59 · 25/01/2024 17:56

You need to complete the online application which is very long but you can save and go back to and send all evidence with this to support your application . No applications are paper or by phone if this is any help to you. I believe the ask bill expenditure report is now sufficient evidence to support your application, which seems new on the application as only debt management agencies were allowed when I applied in November 23. Good Luck.

Izzy2023 · 25/01/2024 22:07

Thank you @Patsy59 for explaining. That's good the ask bill expenditure is sufficient as Citizens advice just aren't getting back to me so I wasn't sure how to proceed. Will make a start on it as you say it is quite long and will prob take me a while as with a new baby I cn only manage things while he naps. Really appreciate it thank you and really hope they accept my application as very much struggling

Patsy59 · 26/01/2024 09:34

I have an email they reply too [email protected] and this phone number but wait for all options and press option 6 0121 348 7797 someone always answered on this.

Yummymummy53 · 26/01/2024 12:36

I got mine today what a relief thankful for the help BGET

Izzy2023 · 26/01/2024 17:47

Thank you @Patsy59 I'll try the helpline if needed. I'm filling in the Ask bill expenditure report still trying to find all the info they need. But worried as often I have a "shortfall" and struggle money wise which they say they won't accept but the reason on part for that is me trying to pay my gas arrears as a higher direct debit payment each month as I had to set up a repayment plan. If they wipe the arrears that would help and leave me with a bit of money at end of the month to then hopefully stay on top of gas bill going forwards if that makes sense. But would they discount me from the grant using the ask bill expenditure figures?

krival · 01/02/2024 11:17

My application status - notified British Gas. What does mean and how long that can be?

Patsy59 · 01/02/2024 14:52

Izzy2023 I totally understand what your saying with having to set up plan for arrears. I was in similar position and unsure if they would except if you had a shortfall and the reasons why, but to be on safe side if any help to you I used Step Change and in a similar position of shortfall so there words to me were they would juggle around my figures on expenditure so no shortfall I wasn't happy with that to be honest but thats what they did. Good Luck

Izzy2023 · 01/02/2024 19:20

Thanks @Patsy59. I rang Step Change in fact and the woman I spoke to wasn't very helpful. She just advised me to complete the expenditure/budgeting on their website by creating an account and that it would then come up with an action plan and to follow the steps on there. I have done it and it does indeed show a shortfall. Not much but still a shortfall. So would you suggest going back to step change in that case? I do not want to lie about anything but at the same time desperate for the grant as I don't know how I'll manage otherwise.

Col1709 · 02/02/2024 07:38

mine said that for nearly 2 weeks then it changed to awaiting decision, it was only on that for 1 day and then it was awarded

Patsy59 · 02/02/2024 10:58

Izzy2023 Hi To be honest I don't have anything to do with Stepchange anymore as wasn't happy with them I did i and e then spoke to them they juggled figures and set up a plan which is what I used for application. I spoke to my creditors directly and cancelled plan as even creditors agreed priority debts come first and I wasn't able to pay them put all my accounts on hold . Maybe contact energy provider and explain you are applying for grant and need a hold on the plan you have with arrears I am sure once application is made a hold on energy account is placed. If that would reduce outgoings enough to be able to make application?

1969millie · 20/03/2024 18:37

Today my British Gas bill af a credit on of £960 it was from bget ,I then ad a email from then telling me I ad been approved ,took 7 weeks altogether ,I applied for £580 at the start but thankfully they paid me more ,it was on awaiting desicion fir 10 days but well happy

EllaSF · 19/04/2024 11:19

Hi everyone, BGET.., we are 'grateful' we say.... however think of the doubled prices on energy guys; is this fair? All energy suppliers taking advantages and using wars, covid, brexit, for them doubling the prices, when we know that this is just an excuse to get richer. Taking advantage of us and then thanking them for a grant they give us from their billions. This is sad. We have to learn to ask for our rights.
