AIBU to consider the Tory government have lost the plot?

I truly don't understand why Truss et al have created this economic mayhem when we were just dipping our toes into a recession! Is it simply Tory ideology - to make the rich richer? Or is it some dark plot to bring back Boris to save us all? It's obvious that Truss has no understanding of economics and is a nasty piece of work, so why was she voted in as PM? Sunak would have been better? I mean what do people here think is going on with this government. I've never been a Tory by the way, can't stand them.

Well it looks like the objective was to ruthlessly divide rich and poor …? To crash the NHS… to make sick disabled and unemployed take the brunt of cuts

plus ça change…

only this time middle England is fucked and suddenly the Tories don’t look so appealing to those who voted for them (certainly not me).

Well I agree with all the above posted by Greenbox, but they lost the plot when they pushed to leave the European Union and it’s been a downward spiral ever since.

The idea is to get the economy going.

What complete and utter bollocks.

Give them one more chance in 2024.

@GreenLunchBox

The Boomers have cheered for the Tories since Thatcher (as a majority voting block) with the exception of the Blair years where there was also a big property boom.

Now finally their cushy assets are under threat and the world has caved in but they (the Tory voters) have shat on the poor and the not so well off for 12 years.

I think it will be a key issue. Unless labour actually speaks up for women's sexed based rights. But time will tell.

I am very worried by the erosion of women's rights to single sex spaces. I am especially worried that it has happened under the Conservatives, and yet I keep reading posts from people who cannot vote for Labour because they (Labour) can't define what a woman is.

The Conservatives might understand the definition snd have given away our rights anyway.

Puzzzlin'. Very puzzlin.

AutumnCrow · 01/10/2022 14:50

This is the conundrum as I see it:

The Tories (the baddies) have given away women's rights on their watch. Some of them have woken up a bit to what's been going on, but it's feeling like it's too little too late, especially with the prisons, NHS and police shit that is actually currently happening. It's fucking disgraceful.

Labour (the goodies) are supposed to promise to swoop in and sort it all out. Labour, with the political history of activism based around class including sex class, are supposed to say with one voice, 'we will protect women as a sex class and fight for their rights. Different but equal.' Labour are also supposed to champion children's safeguarding. But no. They too are a fucking disgrace.

Conundrum: which political party are currently being the more disappointing?
