Child tax credit has paid me £1000.96 is it cost of living payment or a mistake?

I work part time 15 hours and receive child tax credits and DLA mid rate for my child. Just checked my bank balance and a payment from child tax credits for the amount in the title. First I was like what could this possibly be? Then remembered I had a letter a couple of weeks ago saying about a cost of living payment entitlement but the info I'm getting from google is saying a payment in two halves of 3 hundred and something and saying the DLA one is something like £150 so I've still got too much. Do you think it's a mistake or have other people had similar? Thanks

Best to contact them and ask. Make a note of the day/time of the conversation and ask for the person's name.

I used to get a payment this time of year as a sort of corrective amount if they'd underpaid me, as a self employed person I projected my earnings for the coming year based on last year's, and filled out a review in August I think it was. Could that be it?

Do you have an online account? It lists your payment schedules and any additional payments that are paid and why.

Definitely contact them just in case you get the usual fuck up from them of ‘we overpaid you so now you owe us twenty billion’.

If you download the HMRC app it shows all payments and you can check the info they hold for you. Definitely worth checking that and calling them.
