What have you noticed?

Less 3 for 2 offers is definitely one of them. I used them to stock up on tins etc. and now that's gone not to add the individual prices going up.

I've been a member of the co-op for years. This morning I got my weekly offers and they'd been chopped. Things that would normally be a 50p offer down to 25p and 25p ones down to 15p. Tiny on the face of it but with all the increased prices it's definitely going to show.

Prices going up but weight of product getting smaller. Sneaky one is coffee - I noticed a while ago my regular coffee had gone from 200g to 190g but now it's 180g but price increased. Do they think we're stupid enough not to notice?

Everything is going up, so prices have to go up. Companies know we arent stupid but they are having to cover their bills too. Its just shite all round.

flapjackfairy · 06/09/2022 15:48

I noticed the sale items in shop window ( Roman so ladies clothes ) were only reduced by a fiver !
nothing 50 % off etc .

Atmorning · 06/09/2022 22:13

Crisps deals in asda, you used to get 3 multipacks of 6 for £3. Now it's £4.75 for the same. That one always gets me mentioning it whenever I see it!

inappropriateraspberry · 06/09/2022 22:19

Lidl have stopped their weekend deals.
Everything is creeping up, but 60 items at 10p extra is £6 more on your shop!
Im careful anyway - meal plan, shopping lists etc, but it's still jumping from around £70 to £100 for the weekly shop. I know people spend more to begin with, but it's all relative.

Flackattack · 06/09/2022 22:21

Margarine was &1 now £1.85!

Branster · 06/09/2022 22:29

I noticed the coffee jars too but thought I was going mad and maybe they've always been 190g not 200 as I was supposing. And prices gone up too.

Cheese blocks too, reduced in size from 400g to 350g a pack but more expensive and no offers 2 for £x.

And what is it with the small apples? It's been like this for ages. I used to get Braeburns from Sainsburys, pack of 6 as they were very good quality and size. They reduced the pack down to 4 at the beginning of the year. I have no idea on price of these anymore but I'm convinced it's gone up. But all supermarkets seem to only sell them in smaller size regardless of number of apples in the packet every time I look. I haven't checked M&S yet.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 07/09/2022 00:25

Freddo bars are now 30p. We're definitely in the end times.

Tesco 6 packs of crisps were 85p and now they're £1.00. The Tesco Value (sorry, "Stockwell" these days) stuff is almost the same price as the regular stuff.

Soya milk is so expensive now that I just bought beans and a pressure cooker to make my own (and my own tofu) and worked out at today's prices and the amount of it I use, I'll make money back on the pressure cooker and beans in 3 months.

Here's proof of the coffee thing btw @Branster

Asda are still doing 6 Pink Lady Apples for £2.

ImAvingOops · 07/09/2022 07:34

With apples I always end up thinking so I like them enough to spend £2+ on and I always conclude no! I could get 8 small snickers for that money - apples are just sugary water anyway.

ImAvingOops · 07/09/2022 07:35

Although pink lady are the best of them.

Ariela · 07/09/2022 07:54

@Branster Small apples if UK and this season's are smaller due to lack of rain.
I pick a neighbours to use for jam/chutney in a reciprocal arrangement and it was very noticeable this year just how tiny they were.

00100001 · 07/09/2022 07:56

Ehhh, the 3 for 2 type of offers were majority for brand names, so hardly the cheapest option anyway.

flapjackfairy · 07/09/2022 21:02

butter gone up another 25p this week in tesco. it was 1.75 last week and 1.99 this. And that is Aldi price match !

inappropriateraspberry · 07/09/2022 21:08

On top of higher prices, I'm finding lots of gaps on the shelves as there are problems with staffing at the distribution ends. I can never guarantee what I'll find from week to week!

Tiredmum21 · 07/09/2022 21:16

I love an occasional Charlie Binghams - saw the chicken tikka for two had gone up from £7 to over £10! Definitely won't be able to justify it at that price now..

Yep.
And Aldi's West Country salted butter is now £2.05 - it's gone up at least 50p since I started buying it last year.

Speaking of Co-op, I was annoyed the other week. We had friends over for our monthly games night and we’re doing cocktails. We’d been to Aldi and completely forgot the Orange juice which is 69p a litre. Had to go to the local co-op and it was £8 for 2 bottles!! To add insult to injury they’d reduced the bottle size from 1.5litres to 1.35litres. This was Tropicana as they had none of the co-op branded stuff 😢 Unfortunately, it wouldn’t have been much of a cocktail night as we use orange juice in a lot of our cocktails. BTW, I’m aware this is a VERY first world problem.

ClottedCreamAndStrawberries · 08/09/2022 08:45

Snid · 08/09/2022 08:48

Also measuring the economy by the price of a Freddo. Was he 5p in the early 2000s?Now 20p each in a multipack of 5 or one for 30p. He’s also changed shape so I’m going to have to double check if he’s smaller.
