Can anyone help me with my bill please before I ring them tomorrow? Mainly the gas bill although electricity one has some odd things on it too.

I'm with Bulb. July/August bill - Energy used 114.4 kwh @ £7.089 p/kwh (last year used 9kwh/day, this year 4kw or 0.56/day.

August/September bill - Energy used 714.5 @ £7.089 p/kwh (last year used 9kwh, this year 22kwh/day or 1.88/day.

The only thing that has changed in the house is more showers by one person - wasn't here in June/July.

Does it look odd to anyone else?

Thanks as I'm struggling here!

Is the first an estimate and the second an actual reading?

dementedpixie · 04/09/2022 13:38

Are the bills based on readings?

Mangledrake · 04/09/2022 13:40

Is the extra person someone who'd have 15 minutes in the shower a day? That would account for most of the extra with a power shower

jackstini · 04/09/2022 13:42

Any holiday periods last year?
More working from home?
1 digit wrong on reading?
Unequal months?

Trampoline11 · 04/09/2022 13:45

Thanks for replying. I did submit a reading on Aug 26th so they estimated but only 4 units higher than the reading I gave. Looking at it now, I've been charged for 64 units and not 4. I don't understand the price either. I thought it wasn't going up until October.

You have paid the same per kwh but as you used more energy you paid a higher price

Trampoline11 · 04/09/2022 13:48

Re the showers, I'm not sure but he was only gone a month and other bills have not been like this at this time of year. It's a shower run off a combi boiler.

"I don't understand the price either. I thought it wasn't going up until October."

No they went up in April to about 7p a unit already. Gas will be around 15p a unit in October ( unless you are on a fixed rate)

Trampoline11 · 04/09/2022 13:52

Got it @dementedpixie! I wasn't looking at the day rate properly.

Next question - sorry - bill states 26th Aug customer read 9175 then 4th Sept estimate of 9179. Meter units used 64. That's not right is it?

I'm making a right tit of myself here - it's 64 units from 2nd August. Think I'm ok now.

Glad you got it sorted. Shower not such a big deal with combi boiler anyway
