If the UK enters into a recession in the coming year or so, will mortgage interest rates decline?

Just trying to understand it all.

Normally they would go down to encourage economic growth but right now the priority is to reduce inflation and that means higher interest rates. So, fuck knows 🤷🏼‍♀️

Likely to go up but not to mental levels in the 80’s.
I’ve paid an early redemption fee to get a 10 year fixed rate.

Has Boris Johnson said anything about this? If so, I'd just assume it'll be the opposite of whatever he said.
