Heres a referral code for £50

I have found them to be very good.

Disingenuously forgets to mention you also get £50 for the referral…

FourTeaFallOut · 10/02/2022 06:29

And that the Octopus website actively discourages you from moving from your current suppliers.

What I don't get I'd how Octopus has so many customers touting for business? Tonnes of suppliers have referral codes, some for higher than £50, Scottish Power is £75 for example..but it's always Octopus dropping links across MN.

Wavypurple · 10/02/2022 06:29

@blessings2022 who cares? They both get £50 for nothing. If the OP got a reward of £10 million I would understand but they both benefit equally 😂

Grin Grin @ blessings2022 and @FourTeaFallOut

FFS - I'm so sorry and evil for putting something up on the credit crunch board that might help someone else!

The reason there's loads of Octopus referral codes is because they are genuinely good! Or have been so far anyway.

Its very grabby to post these referral links. I wonder if people would still be posting if there was no self incentive?

Woeismethischristmas · 10/02/2022 07:08

I signed up to octopus using a random mumsnet referral code. Was a great rate at the time and we both got 50 quid. I found mines using search on mumsnet so there’s a chance someone will do same for op.

CiderJolly · 10/02/2022 07:10

Maybe people are skint, worried about the rising cost of living and doing whatever they can to help support their family? It’s not hurting anyone to post these links!

Both people benefit, I don't see the problem. People's bills are going up dramatically, I don't think it's grabby to want £50 off. Grabby for me is when other people lose out as a consequence.
FourTeaFallOut · 10/02/2022 07:17

There just not very useful when Octopus doesn't want new customers on the SVR rate.

Yes, I want to use a relative's code but can't switch.

😆 'grabby' it's literally the whole point of the referral, you each get £50 so a win-win! What's the problem? I found out about Octopus through MN, picked a random code and signed up. They've been great.
PuzzledObserver · 12/02/2022 18:19

Might be worth knowing that Octopus are cracking down on referral codes being shared with people who you don’t actually know. There’s an upper limit of 10 referrals per person and if they find you’re using it to promote your own website or as part of a commercial undertaking, they will deactivate your referral code.

anotherbrewplease · 12/02/2022 18:33

Hmmm fascinating- I’m not doing either
