I’ve Cancelled Sky - now what?

After my 18 month contract finished by Sky bill went up and up from £60 per month for the all the channels, broadband and phone to over £100 per month.
Called them to cancel, they came back with £69 per month on a new 18 month contract with a £20 admin fee. I turned that down and proceeded to cancel (31 days notice).

Have I done the right thing? I feel a bit lost now as to what to do. Will they come back with a better offer? I have been looking and I can’t have virgin as I live very rurally and options are limited to talk talk or BT it seems.

Any advice welcome 🤗

A roku box is £30/40 and no ongoing fee. It’s tiny and has a little remote. It uses WiFi.

You should be able to use your dish and receiver box for freesat if you don't have an aerial for free view. www.freesat.co.uk/

If your TV doesn't have I player etc built in, you can use now TV or an amazon firestick or other device with your tv to access them.

Virgin is crap anyway, we're moving to sky or just a now tv box when we move house (can't be arsed making any changes now)

We have a freesat box so you can pause and record tv like a sky box. We have mobile broadband and no phone line

They'll call you in a couple of days with offers. I cancelled it back in November on a Saturday, by the Tuesday lunchtime I had signed back up with them for another 18 months. I'm now paying £69 a month for everything except movies and kids (so broadband, phone line, full sky package including sports, multi-room). We were paying £115.

notangelinajolie · 15/01/2022 18:39

Just wait. Once you have left, they will come back with a better offer to come back.

I've got an offer sitting in my email box for £19 a month for Sky Ultimate TV.

Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 18:43

Reading with interest.

Does Now TV have all the football?

DockOTheBay · 10/04/2022 21:57

Wait a week or so, you'll probably get a call from the Sky retentions team.

If not, get a chrome cast or Now TV box and you can watch Netflix, now TV etc. On there.

Phone around for broadband offers, most give introductory offers.

I just kept my sky broadband. Cancelled tv 18 months ago and don't miss it at all. Well other than live pause but that's not worth £30 a month!

I have a smart tv and that has plenty on it. I pay for Disney for my dd and I will occasionally use my exh Netflix login as he shares it with the dd so it is setup in the tv.
