Hi so I noticed today my bank has been letting me go overdrawn into the hundreds! My fault for not checking what card I was using instead of using my savings card.

Anyway I phoned Santander to ask why it's doing this as it used to cap at £48 maximum as a buffer type thing and then decline.

Santander said they have recently changed the way their accounts work, and it's now down to the person to check it which is fine but it will now let you go overdrawn to whatever it decides to stop at, mine hasn't stopped so far and it's already minus £300.
I just wanted to put a warning on here as I know some people could get into trouble with this as the temptation is greatly there and also people that suffer from impulsive spending could get into trouble.
I know my close friend has to have a limit otherwise she will blow through the lot due to Bipolar and there is nothing Santander can do to stop the accounts from doing this.
Just thought I'd post on here to warn anyone who does have issues with spending beyond their means. I used to do it badly.
