What to do with a bit of unexpected money

Will be getting nearly a full extra tax credit payment this week due to changes I had to make!

Trying to decide what to do with the money, I'm currently saving for multiple things, bed frame for myself (currently on mattress) been paying off a little caravan break at £20 per week and also popping away £30 per week for spending money for daughters school trip.

The biggest thing I plan to do once these little bits are paid off is save for a Florida holiday

If you had a extra payment would you use it to pay for the little things meaning they are not longer coming out of weekly budget freeing up more money or just put straight into big holiday savings and carry on budgeting for the other stuff weekly ?

You can save for the Florida holiday once you're done, it also means that the essentials (school trip and holiday you've committed to, so essential in that they must be paid for).

B+m bargains often have double beds for £60 IKEA not much more (i prefer IKEA quality wise but up to you if you can spend a bit more). Just if that's any help to you.

Could you not use the money to buy the bed frame, assuming you aren't saving for a very expensive one? That way you get to be comfortable more quickly and then you can start putting the money you would have been saving for the bed frame each week into your Florida fund.

I'm only looking at spending £60 on ikea bed frame already have very good quality mattress.. in fairness I don't really have to save to much for bed it's just one of those things that I never really get round to buying as it's for me and not one of the kids.

Just want to feel like I have actually done something with money rather than waste it.

Think I will get bed £60
Change £200 into euros
And put last £70 odd into caravan hols as once those little weekly outgoings are out the way I can just start putting the money into Florida savings

Can you look on freecycle or gumtree for a bed frame? Or one of the charity furniture stores? xx

£30 a week for a child's spending money? How much are you hoping to fine her to spend? That just seems like a lot of money for a child to spend in my eyes?

I would definitely pay something off to increase weekly budget

If you cant even afford £100 or less for a bed frame i think Florida is a while away.

You need a rainy day fund and a life happens fund and Florida is nowhere between the two.
My boyfriend's uncle just died and we were able to give away all the furniture to a friend.
Try looking in the papers to see if people want to give things away, you will be surprised.
Yes, you need a holiday, we all do, I would crawl before I can walk - how a weekend at the seaside, until you are able to walk.
But get starting on those funds.
I have been where you are and it took me years to be where I am today, it was not easy at all, you will eventually get there, but you have to do the hard work that is needed.
