I wouldn't eat meat that old but I know my anxiety about food is OTT generally so not the best person to go with.

DD1 brought change home unexpectedly so spends today were actually
£6.95 ice skating

Town tomorrow for doctors - going to request blood tests as HV suggested, getting a lot of new pain in knees and knuckles which isn't normal for me.

Charles short for Charlotte. Oooookay then 😂

Hello folks and Happy New Year.
Can I join back in please.
Life and this lousy old iPad just got in the way. Very busy and kept getting cut out.
Not even attempting to catch up but I see Em had baby boy as predicted and Cag had a little girl.
Has anybody name changed so I won’t know who they are?

Afreshnewyearplease · 03/01/2018 17:50

Today spent 25 on food and couple bits stationary that were half price in coop for ds1s birthday at end of the month

Cagliostro · 03/01/2018 17:52

Total sympathy on the fussy DC. Between them my two really don't eat much as their fussiness is different - DS is generally picky but while DD loves loads of different veg (including stuff like asparagus and avocado which I wouldn't go near at 10) she still barely eats any main meals and something like pizza or sausages have to be very specific.

I actually said to her yesterday when she made a face about pizza again, well if you are going to refuse pretty much everything then you can't complain about being bored! Angry

Wrongwayup · 03/01/2018 18:00

£36 chiropractor. 8 top up but includes lots of half price Christmas cheese. £20 animal feed. Story of my life that their stuff always way more. Freezer dinner again.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2018 18:13

Fussiness is hard wired to kids though, stops them being Poisened.

Em I knew a girl convinced Charlie was a girls name. We couldn't change her mind on it. Because of Charlie's Angels.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2018 18:14

Welcome back Copper

WreckTangled · 03/01/2018 18:17

My dc are fussy too. Well dd is, ds will try anything. I made Jamie Oliver's chicken and 6 veg ragu tonight. It was yum but dd hater it obviously.

Had a spendy day £11 macdonalds and £8 in the cafe but I needed a hot chocolate after we spent an hour with an unwell man waiting for the ambulance. I called his wife whilst my friend sat with his two girls. It was freezing.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 03/01/2018 18:37

NSD
Fridge is bare but not cracking until shopping tom.
DS found some sausages I cooked yesterday and a tussle ensued (DH lost Grin)
Mine just get what they are given -I am made of steel when it comes to fussiness and DH who was dreadful now eats tons of stuff he wouldnt touch before.
I dont force it but I dont cook umpteen different meals either.unlike MIL
Still blowing a gale here

Bornlazy · 03/01/2018 18:37

Oh no Wreck, is he ok? Well done on staying with him - must have felt like an eternity.

WreckTangled · 03/01/2018 18:46

I don't know born Sad there were lots of people with him probably four different people. It was like he was having a stroke but it wasn't just one side and he could talk. I'm not really sure but I hope he's ok. He was only my age.

Laska5772 · 03/01/2018 18:47

Ooooo... I am feeling all Useful with my Stock 'recipe' Smile

Mo hope its good.. but ( disclaimer !!) it is the quality of what goes in that really counts . Also simmer it for over an hour if you can..

However Ive realised that I left out a 'secret ingredient' in my original post .. which does make all the difference if you have it .. Blush

I roast my chickens in a bag initially . and if i am not making gravy i save all the juice on a jug in fridge , (it goes jellied) i also add that to the stock after I have strained it if I am not using it for anything else ..

When i have a potful made . i tend to reduce it right down to two ice cube trays worth to really concentrate it . then i just use the cubes a few at a time in other dishes

Laska5772 · 03/01/2018 18:47

Copper! Yay! good to see you back !

ememem84 · 03/01/2018 18:49

Appointment was fine. Results in a week. Hooray.

Spends £45 M&S on new knickers, pjs and vest tops in M&S. All gift card spends. And £2 boots. Woop.

£37 boots online nappies and formula.

And £3.45 Diet Coke cans

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/01/2018 18:50

I managed to get my computer to work again. Phew! I have done my tax return but I'm now hopelessly behind on the thread. I hope it's going well there. Having no computer is very weird. There isn't even a phone book these days, so the world just stops working with no internet.

Laska5772 · 03/01/2018 18:56

Oh no wreck how traumatic .. I hope he was ok and you deserved the hot chocolate..

ann yes i think you need to see if the meat has frost damage.. but after all that time in freezer .it probably wouldnt be that tasty .. we only have a small freezer and its means things do get used up , but even i have found things two years old... I recently threw out still frozen) a load of chicken livers! . it was bin day and they woudnt have defrosted before the bin men got here , but i did feel a bit guilty about the mess they would cause .

em I love DS's Shaun the Sheep ! want one

Laska5772 · 03/01/2018 18:57

Sunny lot s of lovely new frugaleers have joined us ! This is the fastest thread ever ..

Laska5772 · 03/01/2018 19:00

My spends to day have just been £4.96 on Amazon Kindle books (sorry Amazon haters) . although i d0 need to look yup cashback offers and quotes for the house insurance due soon.

Annwithnoe · 03/01/2018 19:22

Lonely that’s an excellent point! I haven’t been giving DH enough credit for frugality! Grin but the advice to cook a joint and freeze the leftovers in portions is a very good idea. Much more sensible than freezing joints of meat!

Unescorted · 03/01/2018 19:29

Lost I plan a couple of larger meals or cook something that can be bulked from the store cupboard. Homemade sourdough pizzas are good for that or a curry and a couple of Vege sides eg cauliflower or Dahl and make extra chapattis.

Love I have a small flask for my coffee on the move. I find it better than a thermal cup because it can just be thrown in my bag.

Cag he is soooooo cute. I love the hands thrown up pose.

Laska that is an awesome idea to freeze the tray scrapings.

I had a Chat with my boss today. He has said odd days off for appointments or time because my head needs straightening out won't be counted as sick. They will only start me on sick pay if I need to take an extended period off. That is 6 months at full whack and 6 at 50%. This is because he thinks they owe me hours anyway. The economic implications were my biggest worry because I am the main wage earner.

I am in awe of the NHS.. Call drs yesterday, appointment that day. Hospital called this morning to confirm the clinic dates. Another drs appointment for a couple of weeks away incase I need to discuss anything. We don't realise how lucky we are. I would happily pay an extra penny in the pound had to keep it in tip top shape.

Loveabaconsandwich · 03/01/2018 19:38

Welcome back copper. How is your grandson doing now?

Spent £7.99 on a le creuset dish in tkmaxx. But I had my eye on a similar one on amazon for £22 so saving there. The previous one I used loads until it snapped in half.

£2 in boots on a powder sponge. My last one disintegrated all over my face. But I got a reduced wrap too for lunch- £1.40.

£42 refund back from Dorothy perkins. Who decided to refund to my bank card although i’d paid mostly with GV which is a result to have £s back

WreckTangled · 03/01/2018 19:40

Argh I'm having an eBay panic. I've listed some boots I have but haven't really worn and I've put 'suede boots' in the title but I don't think they're actually suede Hmm can't change it now as have bids on it. They can't be suede I don't think I paid much for them.

Loveabaconsandwich · 03/01/2018 19:44

Whoever suggested the disposable cups, that does seem a good idea but not too sure about the extra rubbish i’d be creating. Not that i’m greenest person around or anything

unescorted the flask may be an idea though! I have a travel mug but it is a pain to carry on the train if I have handbag plus laptop bag too.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2018 19:53

How are you feeling Unescorted?
