is it worth selling old and broken silver jewellery

I was digging around in a drawer not looked in for ten years and found a pair and a half plain gold earings, five or 6 odd silver earings, 1 chunky silver necklace and 3 old silver rings. 2 of the rings are broken zirconia and sapphire i think and 1 is opals and silver half eternity but one of the opals is missing. Is it worth selling any of it or shall i just chuck back in the drawers?

Yes, I got about £100. There is a guide to selling it on Martin Lewis' MSE website, I used that

you can sell it for weight. Here's another calculator:

www.gold-traders.co.uk/scrap-silver-prices.asp

BUT prices vary, so ask around first and see what they are doing. If prices are low at the moment might as well keep it until they go up!

I work for a jewellers/gold buyer.
gold is about £7 a gram on the high street at the moment, it's been dropping.
silver is about 25p a gram.

if it's not being used and just stuck in a drawer it's worth swapping into cash.

pm if you want any more info. Smile
