Motivating stories of money saving...

I am 6-months into money saving. So far we have downsized our house (a much smaller rental, closer to everything), got rid of one car and cut back a lot (meal planning, selling un-needed stuff).

We are doing well and the savings are starting to show...a trickle effect. We are saving for a deposit on a house, that's our main goal.

Thought we could share our stories and it may help keep some of us motivated. I know for a lot it's a necessity but wanted to make this a happy thread.

Have been saving for a house deposit for just about 3 years now and at the end of July we will have £10,000.

It has been hard though, no holidays (we didn't have any before saving either thinking about it!) constantly thinking about money and what we can't have.

We both work and have slowly earned more over the last few years, not much though.

Feel really good about it. We are currently renting a place that is more expensive than our old place which we were in for 7 years but had to move out of due to terrible damp. This means that we are saving the same amount - £500 a month ish and going into our overdraft but come July I will stop saving for a couple of months, get back on track and save a bit more.

If anyone hasn't mentioned it yet, I recommend looking at 'and then we saved'. It's a great blog. Smile
