Making my own reusable sanitary towels

I feel I have to share my latest money saving tip! I have been using old cloth nappy inserts folded into 3 as sanitary towels. They don't leak or itch or smell. I have very heavy periods for 6 days and my cycle is every 23 days, so it will save me lots of money too. They may notbe for everyone as they are very big, but I have never felt so happy about getting my period! Does anyone else do this?

No but it's a good idea. I only use smart price towels because vat is charged on sanpro and it really annoys me.

You can buy re-useable towels too.

I bought washable sanpro after seeing it on washable nappy websites when ds 1 was a baby (9 now). Used them every month since. I also use the washable nappy booster bits as night time pads or when I don't need to leave the house for a few hours.

Still use commercial ones when at work though, they are just far more convenient to cart about and dispose of, although I do prefer to have the nice cotton fleece ones next to my skin.

Also I am a stay at home mum so no problem for me with carrying them about after use. Not sure what to do on holidays, will have to think about that as we go camping Confused

This may help pattern

I ordered some pre-made, it was about £30 for the complete kit and a little bag. They are fine and wash in the normal wash.

Mooncup? At least for when camping etc?

I think they are great. I made my own out of old washable prefold nappies
but after a couple of months of being convinced cloth san pro was the way to go I invested in some charlie banana's they have poppers and everything.
I think it is about a year now and I would go on an advert .. they have come camping in italy with ease.
