Afternoon. I'd like to join in this month if that's ok? I have been watching the August thread with great interest. I am on a tight budget but not desperate. Just me and my 14 month old so we're not big spenders but I'm keen to save money for holidays in years to come. Anyway, NSD here as I haven't even gone out as DS with his dad this weekend.

NSD here too. I am having a very boring day catching up on cleaning & laundry so quite easy to do.

Although I did have to convince DS2 that he didn't really want an ice-cream from the ice-cream van & he made do with a bowl of value vanilla from the freezer and chocolate sauce .

I am in!

NSD here. Really want very little on cc at end of month.

Did £38 at Waitrose and £48 at Aldi yesterday.

Will do petrol tomorrow.

Gave ds £5 for lunch but think he didnt go to Mc Ds so will get that back!

Due to car issues I'm likely to be seriously short of cash for the next few months, so I hope I am welcome on this thread :) I'm not that good at budgetting, we have £300 in savings, and I want to increase that by a factor of 10 by this time next year.

£1.48 (and £15 worth of points) in Sainsbury's for a top up shop, but now we should need nothing for a week. And I made £5 selling an old jacket of DHs on one of the facebook groups.

I'm aiming for 15 NSDs this month, other than any direct debits that may be due to go out. I'm also hoping to persuade DH that a Mon-Fri lodger is a good idea...

And me. Facing unemployment and whilst we can exist on 1 wage we can't spend anything at all- zero disposable income. Managed to get asda shop down (yes down!!) to 100 quid today. Bought less n planned meals for the week, we will see how it goes... But I need a hair cut for job interviews and petrol for the car, let alone some kind of suit. Aargh!

Had a spendy day with lunch out, big shop at aldi (£65) as just for back from holiday and a £5 puzzle for DD's friend's birthday next weekend.

Not optimistic about being NSD tomorrow as DS doesn't go back to school till Wednesday and I have a few errands to run tomorrow in town and will have to take him along!!

Nsd for me, hopefully first of many. I haven't been frugal enough by far and it's catching up with me. Especially after a very expensive school holidays and back to school bills. I need to rein it in a bit a lot and learn some better habits.

I have a ds 12 and a dd 8 so basically feeding, clothing and entertaining two adults and a child.

Sorry probably a stupid question but...

Does a nsd also include if dd's etc go out of the bank? Does it include everything? I give ds money for lunch and the bus each day, so theoretically would spend that every week day. Plus I have to pay parking sometimes for work but have no choice as its ad hoc so would that also ruin a nsd? I don't want to be a fraud when others are trying (and succeeding).

I don't count DD but I do parking. Any free safe parking roundabout? There's a scheme where people rent out their drives for parking if they are close to town centres.

I can't remeber what it's called though?

Would your ds have packed lunches? Or would that not suit him? I loved school dinners.

Still using my £12 off a £60 shop vouchers from Sainsburys. Another three weeks so that's a big help.

Didn't spend anything today. Cooked a big minestrone from store cupboard and a big apple crumble from our own apples.

DH bought milk and sunday papers but that's it.

Going out tomorrow, so unavoidable. I've decided to be careful on food costs this month as that's pretty easy to do, so the massive new expenses don't scare the bank.

Queen marigold if you live near a city, you can get good free haircuts at the training salons. I used to get gorgeous Vidal Sasson and Toni & Guy cuts free when I was younger. Takes time, but they are £100 cuts for free or almost free.

Can I join in? We're on a tight budget and I have been over for the last couple of months. Really stuck to it in August and was within budget by about £10 overall so that's great.

I budget £140 a month food for me, DH, DD1 (3) and DD2 (2), spent £1.80 today.

£40 petrol for me for the month, I'm a SAHM, put £20 in car today as was running low.

£40 entertainment, used £10 at carboot sale today but got loads and loads of clothes for next year, plus elefun game which my eldest has been wanting for ages, got it for £1. DD1 is back at preschool next week. We also find lots of cheap/free things to do.

I do however had to MOT my car this month, managed to get it booked at normal garage for £21.94, shouldn't need anything much done as not driven that much and only 5 years old (fingers crossed). Last MOT had warning on a tyre, that has now been replaced. Was very pleased when I realised that I bought 12 months tax in April to separate the MOT and tax payments across the year, had been thinking I'd need to pay that this month.

All DDs' Christmas shopping done now, bought in sales across the year.

Am hoping for some NSDs this month.

I'd like to join to if I may. We had loads of unexpected expense in August and the credit cards are spiralling out of control. :( Anything I can claw back is going to help us get through the winter.

Joining in. I've been striving to clear debts (ive paid off 8k in 10 months) and almost there but somehow still end up resorting to credit card at the end of the month. I've got £1k in overdraft and another £1k on credit card to clear now. I also owe my mum £1100. If I am really frugal I can get these all paid off by Xmas. But this means making pack lunch for myself and cycling to work every day even in the rain!

Fluffy...thanks for the help. I have to park at the places I go to unfortunately, don't want to say more than that cos it's a bit identifiable as its job related!! Maybe I shall exclude it or add it in brackets if it falls on a nsd

Ds loves school dinners, dd is happy with packed lunch. Most of ds's friends have dinners especially his best friend who is a newly diagnosed diabetic so is allowed into the dining hall for the first sitting and allowed to take a friend. Packed lunches and school dinners sit separately, so that's an allowance I'll make for now. He is taking a snack from home though from now on not buying one so a little help.

I might give him his lunch money at the start of the week so he can budget it, he has pocket money and clothes allowance which he's good with so can't foresee a problem. I pay dd's at the start of the week anyway.

I don't know why I got the vouchers racingheart. This is the second lot I've had. I used to be a regular Sainsburys home delivery shopper but I've been going to Aldi recently. I think they're trying to tempt me back!
