So... I am a nurse, I work fulltime and I take home approx 23k my husband is leaving his job to go back to college and retrain, currently we get no tax credits or any other form of benefit.
my husband is looking at getting a part time job approx 16 hours a week but I would rather he worked less and concentrated on college,
We have one DD in nursery £300 per month and the other is at school, his course fees have been funded we have a mortgage and 1 car on finance.

My question to you oh wise ones is, is there anything else I can apply for or do to maximise funds ? I am willing and will do overtime each week but I just want to make sure I can still have time to actually be a mum too.

Sorry if I am rambling I'm on my phone and at work Grin thanks in advance x

I don't know the answer but you do sound organised. Hope this bump will get someone else to help. Good luck.

You need to look at the 'entitled to' website as that will tell you if there's anything else you can claim and you need to spend probably 2 or 3 evenings sitting down with DH and setting a budget for everything, deciding on ways you can cut cost and finding out if your DH can get any student benefits. For example he may be able to get an nus card that will mean he has id to get a cheaper bus pass, possibly a railcard. He may get discount on books and be able to get cheap access to the local swimming pool so the cost of your family activities comes down.

It'll be hard at first but worth it.
