bad credit report,want to rent house. Help please!

basically we are trying to sell our house and want to rent,but my husband has huge debts and bad credit report.We would have money to afford renting if we sell,but i want to know if landlords look at credt reports and if refuse us,would our house money convince them to let us rent?.anyone had any experience.desperate to know!!!...it's our only way out of our bad situation.

Most landlords do credit check but some don't I was in a very similar situation as you nit long ago. But eventually managed to get somewhere. Have you tried local housing

Sometimes they will take you with bad credit if you pay for the first 6 months in advance. Be up front with them and ask the question, there must be loads of people in your position at the moment.

That has eased my already turmoiled brain,as suddenly thought,what if we can't rent.?!!.Any others wth experience of selling and then renting to survive the debts?.My sympathy goes out to all of you experiencing difficulties too.

we didn't have bad credit but didn't earn enough to rent and didn't have a guarentor (all rellies with any money are retired and retired didn't qualify ). We paid upfront for 6 months, after which we were allowed to pay monthly

Yeah it was in England

there was actually another time I've just remembered where I didn't actually have to pay the 6 months in advance, but had to show a bank statement to show I had 6 months rent in savings so had the ability to pay it, and that was fine by them (didn't have a credit history back then as new to the country then)

also try gumtree if the estage agents aren't flexible, I have friends who rent privately because they go more by the tennants personalities than credit rating on paper and have had very good luck that way (after having EA tennants who ticked all the boxes then trashed the place and didn't pay half their rent!)

I'm talking about friends who are land lords incase that isn't clear, I'm not making a lot of sense today..

Try looking for a private Landlord through Gumtree or local papers / shops notice boards. I have always rented privately as I begrudge paying an agent a fee to set up the agreement and the rents tend to be a little higher to cover agents costs. Ime private landlords don't credit check but may ask for references from work etc instead so if you are honest and reliable then you'll have no problem. On the flipside - if you go for a private rental do make sure the landlord has the correct insurance, gas safety certificate etc.
