Soooooo excited about my Approved Food order!!!!

I found out about the Approved Food website on here and have just made my first order. I have bought £113 worth of food for £31!!!!! Admittedly I will have an awful lot of some items (like 15 packets of bread sauce mix at 10p each!! But hey, we always have bread sauce with roast dinners so that's the next 15 weeks taken care of!!) and some things I've never bought before (5 large family-size packets of pea-nut flavour crisps at 20p a pack, how bad can they be?!). But I cannot believe how cheap some items are and will be shamelessly making my family eat out of date products from this website for the rest of time!! I've only just done the order, so will report back on how good they are with delivery etc. As it's my first order delivery was free. This will be my new obsession....as you have to keep watching the site as products go out of stock very quickly (missed out on some really cheap cat-food as put it in my 'basket' but didn't check-out quickly enough and it all sold so I lost mine Sad!). the website is www.approvedfood.co.uk

I looked the other day. I wasn't brave enough to order. Those crisps sound vile!!

IllegitimateGruffal0Child · 04/05/2012 18:26

I've ordered from them. It was great.

Thing is, I bought too many sweet treats Blush which kinda defeated the point!

ShirleyKnot · 04/05/2012 18:27

Peanut crisps are AMAZING.

Olympia2012 · 04/05/2012 18:30

Are they Shirley? Are you sure?!

ShirleyKnot · 04/05/2012 18:30

Uh. What's the dealio with them then? Is the food out of date or what?

ShirleyKnot · 04/05/2012 18:31

Yes Olympia - if you like peanut butter then you'll love peanut crisps. They're like a nutty wotsit.

Always eat tons some on holiday!

BikeRunSki · 04/05/2012 18:55

Yes Shirley, stuff is mainly out of date ot in old packaging. They some non consumable stuff too
I got DD a Bush Baby winter jacket for next winter for £6 recently.

JellyBelly10 · 04/05/2012 20:12

Stuff is either out of date (but we're not talking meat and milk here! We're talking tinned goods and packets and cat-food etc....so who cares!), or on a short date, or is just no longer something a shop sells so they want to get rid of it, or it's in old design packaging etc. The pea-nut crisps were recommended by a friend from Isreal who LOVES them, and says exactly what ShirleyKnot says, that they're like peanut butter Wotsits....so frankly they sound bloody marvellous!! I may never use them again, as you only get the free delivery once, but I'm still excited about the prospect of a big box of food worth over £113 turning up that only cost £31!!!

The products are past their Sell- by dates but not their use by dates so perfectly safe.

I found it saves me loads on lunchbox snacks, pasta sauces + tinned toms.
Currently have a freezer full of tortilla wraps!

Dawndonna · 29/05/2012 19:54

Just got my first order. It's smashing. Have used some spices and eaten jelly already!

maddiemostmerry · 29/05/2012 20:15

My order arrived too, really pleased with it. I din't get free delivery either but did get an extra box of biscuits.

ceeveebee · 21/06/2012 22:19

Can anyone tell me how much they charge for delivery and how long it usually takes to arrive?

An Confused about some of the bargains on here - why is toilet roll so cheap, and rice with over 2 years on the date???

MNP · 21/06/2012 23:28

I ordered just now £25 instead of £78 and delivery next tuesday.

pollyblue · 02/08/2012 20:05

I just received my first order, came about 4 days after ordering. Very pleased with it, majority of stuff well within date (Typhoo tea bags exp Feb 2013 for example) , some biscuits expired last month but are still fine. Nouvelle loo rolls were only £2.75 for 9 rolls so bought a goodly number of those Grin. I played safe and didn't buy any brands I don't know. Delivery was excellent, arrived within a one hour allotted slot so I knew when to expect it.

SlinkyPebbles · 07/08/2012 22:41

So have I understood that right? Some stuff they send will have passed it's sell by date?

stressedHEmum · 08/08/2012 09:37

Slinky, a lot of the stuff is near or after its best before date but not its use buy date. it's all perfectly safe to eat.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 09:50

If you click on the item it will give full details of best before dates etc, you can then decide for yourself. Postage is very reasonable, but if you register with them, you will get emails giving free delivery every now and then.

I have only ever had one thing that was 'off' and that was a gingerbread house. The packaging had a rip. Also the zip on the bush baby coat broke, but it does up with Velcro. Check sizes of things as I was shocked to get a tub of mango pickle that was as big as a bucket. I particularly love their sauces and cous cous.
