Don’t know why I’m posting but I can’t sleep and feeling a bit sorry for myself. DH and I have been soooo ill for the past week now and it’s not getting any better. We’ve got:
Horrendous chills and then massive sweats especially at night, insomnia, fatigue, headache, barking cough to the point I’m sick, no sense of smell or taste, muscle aches, fever, sneezing, no appetite (I must have eaten a mouthful of dinner in the past 3 - 4 days which is hard as I’m trying so hard to eat even a bite of something too when I take painkillers)
Please tell me it gets better. Or what’s good for helping. I’m so miserable right now 😫 I feel like I’m failing as a parent too. DC have been so wonderful but I can’t even hold a proper conversation. 😣

Sounds like it.

Most important thing is to take care of yourself. Don’t rush back to “normal life” when you feel a bit better. I did and ended up ill again whilst Dh was sensible and recovered much quicker.

Your taste and smell will come back which is actually rather glorious!

Foodonashoestring · 15/04/2025 22:50

Sending you some 💐 op hope you get better soon. Plenty of rest, fluids, painkillers and light foods like soup.

InsertUsernameHereeee · 15/04/2025 22:51

@Mumofteenandtween thank you so much for the lovely reply. I’m definitely trying to rest as much as possible. Oh I’m so looking forward to it, I think after this I will forever appreciate my senses! X

Have you seen your gp? I was unwell for 2 weeks and assumed Covid, had very similar symptoms to what you are describing but i actually had bacterial laryngitis and sinusitis and needed antibiotics. I’d just been waiting it out at home getting worse thinking it was Covid 🤦

InsertUsernameHereeee · 15/04/2025 22:53

@Foodonashoestring thank you so much. I will definitely do all of the above x

@Littlebluepenguins wow really? I actually haven’t yet, maybe that’s a good idea. I’ll see if I can get through in the morning. Thank you x

There’s so much going around . My friend has had really bad Covid for over 2 weeks now and she’s been to hospital coz she’s had a reaction to something and I’ve got what I feel is flu right now . I haven’t got a cough at all but my throat is so sore and that started with me just suddenly feeling deathly freezing cold on Saturday when the sun was lovely .

so many bugs hope you feel better soon .

InsertUsernameHereeee · 15/04/2025 23:06

I had Covid last year ( very strong lines for over 2 weeks) . Most ill I’ve ever been in my life. I could barely function. It did take 6 weeks to recover. I kept going back to my gp as I was so ill and in the end they did diagnose me with a secondary infection so do go to your gp if you’re not improving.

InsertUsernameHereeee · 15/04/2025 23:17

@Pyjamatimenow that sounds awful, must have felt like forever 😢 I definitely will thank you X

Hi all. Just an update, it was indeed Covid however I’m feeling so much better now and my taste and smell have returned. So relieved.

@InsertUsernameHereeee glad you’re feeling better. I came down with it on Tuesday and started to feel more human today and even a bit hungry but I can’t taste or smell a thing! It’s so frustrating! Can I ask how long this joyous symptom lasted for you?

InsertUsernameHereeee · 20/04/2025 23:23

@Dita73 oh no that’s horrible 😣 I felt awful for about 10 days and lost my taste and smell for around 7 days. Really hope you’re better soon x

I have Covid - I think I brought it back from Dubai, the airport was so crowded with flights meeting from all over the place, wish I had a mask!
Cant smell a thing. It feels so different to a normal cold - my head feels so stuffy. Two of my children have it too - one is not so bad but the other has a really high temp.

InsertUsernameHereeee · 21/04/2025 11:06

@anon199900 aw no hope you feel better soon. 😣 It really does feel different doesn’t it. Never felt anything like it. X

Yeah it’s strange - I just knew it wasn’t the usual cold, plus I felt like I was getting better then on day 4 it got worse again!! My mum bought me some beautiful Hyacinths and I couldn’t smell a thing from them - that’s when I knew and tested 😂 I only really tested as both my parents are in their seventies and although they have had multiple vaccines I still want to be careful around them.

InsertUsernameHereeee · 21/04/2025 12:40

@anon199900 oh absolutely. I have to say I was the same around day 4ish.. it seemed to get worse before it got better x

@InsertUsernameHereeee thank you for replying. I’ve now tested positive for a week and I still can’t smell or taste a thing. It’s driving me crazy! My husband came down with it yesterday. Naturally he’s worse than me!

InsertUsernameHereeee · 21/04/2025 20:55

@Dita73 oh I know that feeling my DH was worse than me too 😂 hope you get your smell and taste back soon x
