Taste buds gone crazy

I thought I just had a bad cold but I suspect it has been in fact covid yet again. This time my taste buds have gone crazy and everything tastes bitter and the tip of my tongue keeps going numb. I tried to have a cup of tea this morning and just couldn't drink it as it was too bitter.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help this taste bud issue? I'm trying to drink lots of water with a slice of lemon in, but I just want to eat sweet things all the time
Alongside this, I have had a sore throat, headache, cold, cough, no appetite (apart from the aforementioned sweet stuff) and an upset stomach. I think I am on day 7

Just go with it for now. It will run its course. Sorry you’re feeling rubbish. So weird how it hits the taste buds each time

I had a horrible cold all last week and felt rubbish for a few days. It only occurred to me it might be Covid when my taste buds started losing the plot. It's always metallic?! It's horrendous and constant. Everything tastes like I've been sucking coins 🤢

The only good part, is that out of the 6-7 times I've had Covid, this was by far the easiest variety - Just feeling rough for a few days, as opposed to being bed bound for 10 days.

In the past, my mouth has been the last thing to return to normal, once or twice has lasting over a month... awful symptom. I hope you feel better soon!

I remember it happening to me. I was at a conference an they had amazing catering but I may as well have been eating sawdust! Only lasted 2 days though
