Stomach problems after having covid

Has anyone been left with delayed gastric emptying after having had the latest covid? My food is sitting in my stomach for hours and not being digested. I'm also feeling full up after just a few mouthfuls. I'm not particularly bothered as I do need to eat less, but it's kind of uncomfortable.

Are you sure it’s Covid after effects? Sounds similar to my gallstones symptoms. Worth talking to your gp.

Have you tried a strong prebiotic and eating fermented foods like kimchi etc? You need to introduce some good bacteria into your gut.

I can take capsules, but I can't eat fermented stuff as my stomach can't deal with it. I've always been like that.

Yes it came on during my covid infection two weeks ago and it seems to be lingering. No pain, just food not digesting at the proper rate.

Yes I did. Everything was being digested eventually but it sat in my stomach for ages. I also had a fluttering/vibrating sensation in my abdomen.

Hi @T4phage and @narniabusiness I'm suffering with something that sounds similar. How long did it last and what did you do to improve things?

narniabusiness · 18/10/2024 20:12

It look a good few weeks to clear. I did try taking a probiotic capsule but that didn’t seem to help. I just had to go easy on the food and ate lightly. Lots of fruit salads.

Thanks @narniabusiness

I feel really sore and uncomfortable just under my ribs and my blood pressure keeps dropping. Does this sound similar to what you experienced?

narniabusiness · 18/10/2024 20:28

I didn’t take my blood pressure but I did have problems with my breathing and my oxygen was 94. I was exhausted and napping in the day even 3 weeks after I tested positive. Looking back I should have got myself checked out. So you might want to consider doing that.

Thank you - I will do
