Best probiotic for Long Vax/Long Covid

Any recommendations for specific pre and probiotics? I had myocarditis post vaccination (hospitalised and officially diagnosed as a vaccination injury), but also have a fog of ongoing symptoms. Have been on cardiac meds. Supplements that seem to have helped have been turmeric, Vit D, B12.

Have seen some studies showing benefits of pro and prebiotics. Wondering if anyone has had a specific recommendation and found something that worked.

Link to one study here and a report on it, in case access restricted.

Probiotics helped reduce fatigue and memory loss from long covid

A study involving more than 450 people found that a mixture of prebiotics and probiotics alleviated some symptoms of long covid when taken daily for six months

I've had long Covid for 3 years but even prior to that I took Symprove daily as a pro/prebiotic. It's one of only 2 recommended by GPs - Symprove and VSL#. I prefer Symprove as it comes in liquid form (super-easy to drink, just have it cold) whereas VSL is powder (which reminds me too much of Beechams powders bleurgh!)

I'm very happy with Symprove.

(If you want to try it, just PM me and I can send you a link/code to get 50% off for your first 3 months - there's no tie-in but they do recommend you try it for 3+ months to really see the benefit).

I also supplement with Co-Q10. This was recommended to me by a cardiologist (long Covid specialist). He suggested taking 200mg x 3 times daily and said I'd notice an improvement with my brain fog within 24 hours if it was going to help (and if I didn't notice a difference, stop taking it). It worked for me! I was so happy. That was 12 months ago and my brain is pretty much back to normal. I still have lots of other long Covid issues but my cognitive issues are gone (which is a blessed relief! and to the extent where I just got a promotion at work)

eat your greens. That is what "prebiotic" means. lettuce, green beans, cabbage, broccoli, kale, etc.

"probiotics" are just a harmless con. Any bacteria you eat are probably already dead. if not, they mostly die in your stomach, if not, then you have a balance of over 500 bacteria and archae in your gut, why would you want to disturb the balance?

Best thing you can do for your gut bacteria is nourish them, so eat your greens

I take symprove and it's helped me loads. Also had myocarditis from Covid and then again. from vax!! Not sure it helped with that at all but has definitely helped with my stomach in general and also i think with immunity. I stopped it for 6 months and health definitely plummeted again. CoQ10 also helped me as well. Hope it passes for you. I am now recovered but it took a long time.

Thank you. Trying to do as much as possible via diet, vegetarian and eat mainly unprocessed food. Some fermented foods helped noticeably.

Thank you for the recommendation. Will try Symprove. I have some permanent damage, but hope to try to dampen down the other issues.

My DH and I have had Long COVID for over 3 years.

This study was one I found in the UK

https://phyto-v.com/

DH found this brand worked well for him

https://futureyouhealth.com/probio8-plus

Also we both found this helped better than other tumeric supplements.

https://igennus.com/products/longvida-optimised-curcumin-500-mg-30-capsules

DH and DD both have had blood tests that showed them to be deficient in folic acid and vitamin D post Covid infection on more than one occasion. You might want to get these levels checked out as you may need extra supplementation above normal RDI if that is the case.

I found a methylated vitamin B complex helped me in the early days along with CoQ10.

Also if I am really fatigued but have to carry out (although resting is recommended it was not always realistic for me with kids to look after), taking D-ribose power 5g in water as a one off for the day helps get me through. Sometimes if I am very fatigued at the end of a long day now and I know the next day I will also be busy taking it in the evening before bed helps too. You would have to research it but I believe it has some impact on ATP in myocardial tissue and has been trialled in cardiac failure patients.
