How is COVID presenting now and in children?

My girl was fine yesterday but was sick over night. It was just one big vomit and she's been tired all day today and has a very slight cough now. It's going around the school.

I'm just wondering if that's COVID. I do t have any tests and I can't get out to the pharmacies or shops.

I am afraid of being exposed to COVID. I know loads of people will wash their hands of COVID as if it's nothing. I had COVID two years ago and I found it hard and distressing.

I can't afford to get sick now either. Not only that, I fear my employers response. She's likely going to want me back at work ASAP. I will be lucky if I get a day off if I become unwell.

Just wondering if COVID is going around the schools and it's presenting like this?

I don't think it's possible to say for sure either way based on that, unfortunately. It does seem to be going round more again at the moment.

Good luck anyway and try to keep some windows open to let fresh air blow right through the house regularly. That should mean that if your daughter is breathing out covid (or even another virus) then the total amount of virus you breathe in will be less and any illness you get might be milder.

Tbh there are lots of bugs doing the rounds atm. My DCs school has just had a Group A Strep outbreak with lots of kids off with either scarlet fever or tonsillitis.

My kids school just had a massive outbreak of Covid last week, at one point over half his class was off, they were dropping like flies! Pretty much everyone had the same symptoms, extreme fatigue, high temp which didn’t come down with paracetamol, sore throat and headache. A couple of kids also had tummy ache but as far as I’m aware, no vomiting! I hope that helps and your little one feels better soon!

It is doing the rounds still. DH tested positive last week. Diarrhoea was a new feature this time. He was very ill with it. When I touched him I felt like I had burnt my hand. He is coughing a little bit but has felt like crap for days.

I'm not in the UK, but these are the exact symptoms my DS has, with the addition of a niggly cough. He did throw up once at the start but nothing since.

He's pretty much slept for 3 days so far and his temp has been really difficult to get down.

It seems a lot of his school are off with the same symptoms.

Oh I forgot the cough, we’ve had that too but a few days after the initial symptoms!

Me and one of my children have had Covid this week. Just common cold symptoms for us, bit of a temperature, headache and an annoying sore throat and cough.

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/06/2024 22:33

Sore throat, achy and exhausted here (all three of us the same)

Upinthenightagain · 21/06/2024 22:38

Dd is positive atm and she’s had sore throat, headache and diarrhoea

ProverbialBoot · 21/06/2024 22:38

My teen came back from a festival on Monday (UK)- Wednesday tested positive for Covid. What a dampener on the weekend! Fever, cough, generally rough - hollered up in bed.

Upinthenightagain · 21/06/2024 23:05

we also had a high temp, sensitive skin and a bit of a cough but not persistent

Christmas202 · 22/06/2024 11:16

My son went off his food had 1 sausage all day. The next day he had headache and vomiting and tummy pain sore throat and sore ears bit of a runny nose. My kids since the first time they got Covid have low temperatures instead of high ones. His temperature Went down to 34.4. He tested positive very strongly. I on the other hand it’s like the worst vomiting bug I’ve ever had. Sore tummy and joint and muscle pain. It’s my fifth time having this shit . 🙄

fourelementary · 22/06/2024 18:53

Our younger children have had headache, sore throats, low grade temperatures and some muscle aches. Older son and adults have similar plus cold symptoms and upset stomachs. No vomiting here.

tarheelbaby · 22/06/2024 19:56

A colleague + spouse had it last week. Not sure how/why they tested to know it was COVID. They both had a cough and flu-like symptoms: more cough for him, more flu for her. I think it was a 7 - 10 day tour approx. He was still coughing after a week off work - a niggling tickle as he was trying to give a presentation.

There haven't been many identified cases amongst pupils in my school lately.

Lampzade · 30/06/2024 15:57

Just tested positive for COVID.
I have a sore throat and sore muscles.
In addition, I am absolutely exhausted

BESTAUNTB · 01/07/2024 08:15

Today is Monday. Tested positive on Saturday having fallen ill on Friday. Sore throat and cold symptoms, including a slightly raised temperature. Some skin sensitivity. Fatigue.

No stomach issues.

Feeling better today but still not right.
