Taste and smell - despairing!

So I had Covid twice during 2020 and it has severely altered my taste and smell. I’m now at a stage where I physically cannot smell strong smells properly like perfume and most food tastes completely bland.

I’m absolutely despairing as it just seems to be getting worse as time goes on. Does anyone have any advice on how I can undo this? Or make it better? I’m willing to put in the work as this is miserable now.

How awful. I lost it for 3 weeks and that was bad enough. I put on weight as I kept eating in the hope I would taste something!

Look up smell therapy with essential oils,I did it every day and I think it helped.

Not nice. The first time I had Covid I lost my smell and taste for 1-2 days then it came back but not normally. I couldn't smell poo (not a bad thing but it smelt even weirder), eggs, bacon and onions properly. Then it slowly came back over the 2 years apart from eggs which still smelt weird. Now I have just caught it again (not tested but assuming as the loss of smell is exactly the same as before) and freaking out that I will never get a proper sense of smell/taste again. So I am starting to do my own smell therapy. I have been sniffing things like coffee, coconut oil, lavender, basil and it's coming back! It's only been a week so it was probably coming back anyway but I do believe in smell therapy. Expose yourself to a variety of smells every day. Retrain your brain. Maybe it will work.
