I’m on day 4 of covid - started with sore throat on Sunday, haven’t been able to get out of bed since then, feel v dizzy, have a headache a lot of the time, sneezing, yesterday I coughed so much I coughed up blood 😬. And generally just a feeling of feeling so crap I don’t know what to do with myself.

Of course this has to happen now, just before Christmas, I’m totally unprepared and was planning on hitting the shops this week but that’s not happening, I can barely make it down the stairs.

My worry is that we’re going on holiday to Florida on the 29th December and it will be full
on with theme parks etc, and I’m worried I’m still going to feeling crap. I also have chronic fatigue which doesn’t help. It’s a really expensive holiday that my mum has paid for to celebrate her 70th with family, and I’m worried I’m going to ruin it :(

I’ve had covid before but not for a couple of years, and I know all variants are different so just wondered if with this one there’s any chance of me being relatively back to normal by the time I go away?

I had covid early November didn't have it as bad as yourself.
Have an Young adult with special needs, so didn't rest as much as I needed.
Felt worse after nausea lasted a week after negative test.
Still have indigestion pain, fatigue even just pacing myself. I've crashed out a few times to help recover.
Christmas presents, could you delegate a few people to get what you need.??
Sure your family would understand if they ended up with either money/ gift vouchers or iou a present. Getting better for Christmas and the holiday is your priority. Out of 4 of us I'm the only one still feeling the after effects.
Gp to see if he can offer anything to help, only gutted catching covid, not testing earlier and not taking up the offer off a covid trial when I reported positive test.
Had I known how I felt now, would've snapped it up.

Hopefully your feel better very soon and enjoy Christmas and the holiday.👌

I'm on Day 7. Less dizzy and sore throat has gone.

MEFibroHell · 14/12/2023 22:06

Sympathies op. Our symptoms started the same time. I feel like death and am very concerned it will leave my CFS/ME worse than ever. We haven’t even been able to shower we feel so ill. My bones hurt so much, my head, my throat, I’m dizzy, feel like I’m choking when I cough-it’s just awful, and I’m vaccinated!
I can’t even think about Christmas!

I wonder what the covid trial would have entailed scream

stargirl I will be counting down the days….day 7 seems so far away!

I hope you feel better soon op.

GandalfTheWhite · 14/12/2023 22:11

I'm on day 5, managed to get a shower today and wash some dishes, and thats the most I've done all week, other than that I've barely moved off the sofa.

My issue now is the dizzy headaches and breathlessness. Just walking to the next room and im panting like I've ran a marathon.

Sense of smell has come back but sense of taste still a bit iffy.

I'm exhausted

hangingonfordearlife1 · 14/12/2023 22:19

day 6 today and managed to go to work and have been ok. yesterday i was still half dead, dreadful headaches and body aches. my chest cleared up quickly as i had antibiotics.

Oakbeam · 14/12/2023 22:24

The first time I was in bed for five weeks and feeling like crap for three more. The second time I felt rough for a couple of days.

waffleyversatile1 · 14/12/2023 22:41

I found out I have Covid today. It's the 3rd time I've had it. Shocked by how bad the brain fog and dizziness is this time. I haven't had to take to my bed but do feel totally rubbish. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive · 14/12/2023 23:00

I'm on day 4 today. First day Ive been able to get up and about for a while and then just found myself floored at about 4pm. I felt very dizzy, breathless (no cough), achy and just exhausted. I have just woken up and my glands under my jaw are so swollen and I feel achy and cold again. Sinuses feel like they have pressure in too.

I just need this virus to bugger off.I have so much to do to get ready for Christmas and just haven't been able to move from the sofa for the most part.

VeryGoodVeryNice · 15/12/2023 00:51

Thanks for the replies. Sympathies to all those currently suffering, hope we all feel better by Christmas.

Well I know covid can be very up and down but think I’ve turned a bit of a corner today. As long as I’m lying down, I feel pretty much normal - no headache, no sneezing, only a very rare and pathetic cough, mentally feel like myself again, dizziness has stopped. My sore throat was only very slight and I only had that on Sunday. When I stand up I still feel pretty weak on my feet, so I’ve been taking it easy. My fever seems to have broken too, that was still raging strong yesterday. And today I actually feel bored of being in bed whereas before I was too ill to be bored. There were a couple of days where I couldn’t taste or smell anything but today I could taste my food again.

I do have to drop the pup at the groomers tomorrow (I was meant to be working there all
day but that’s definitely not happening), so leaving the house and driving will be an experience after 5 days of not really moving.

Still testing positive so I’ll stay out of people’s way!

I can’t remember feeling dizzy with variants I’ve had before, but maybe I did and my memory is just crap! I also don’t remember insomnia but definitely got it with this one, every part of my body is achy and tired but just can’t sleep.

Day three and feeling unwell but have been able to do ironing and cooking, although I have spent most of my day in bed.

I have pain in my stomach and wonder if a glass of red wine might improve things.

Yes I've had terrible insomnia with this one. I'm taking melatonin to send me back to sleep when I wake up at 3am

VeryGoodVeryNice · 15/12/2023 17:53

@Perfectlystill I had a vodka, lime and soda last night and it didn’t make things any worse 😂.

@Perfectlystill its awful isn’t it. Just collected my prescription of codeine otherwise I’d have no chance of sleeping later.

Well definitely feeling loads better today, managed to get out and about for a couple of hours (I’m day 6 so done my 5 days isolation), I did feel dizzy and like I needed to collapse when I got back but it’s a massive improvement from a couple of days ago when the exertion of having a bath had me literally groaning.

(I’m day 6 so done my 5 days isolation)

I’m obviously still not right because, not only did I have to count using my fingers when I read this, but I actually made it only day 5 several times, despite looking down at the thumb I had folded down on my second hand after using up all the fingers on my first 😂

VeryGoodVeryNice · 15/12/2023 21:08

@MEFibroHell isn’t it 5 days from symptoms starting which was Sunday? Anyway, the dog had to go to the groomers otherwise it was going to be a welfare issue as she wouldn’t have been done for another month. So that was decision made. If I was a few hours short of the required time then at least I made a good effort to stay away from people which is more than most people with covid seem to be doing!

There was 2 trials the Oxford panoramic clinical trial might of offered antiviral treatment study. Can't remember who was doing the other study??
But by the time the text message came through my lft was faint line. The following day negative.
You have to sign up by day 5.
Luckily I was wearing a face mask when I thought I just had a cold and relieved I didn't go and see my 79 year old mum.
Hope you all feel better soon.
Feeling better, wearing face mask to stop picking up anything else.

MEFibroHell · 15/12/2023 22:48

Yes @VeryGoodVeryNice and I was looking at 6 fingers using two hands but I meant that my covid brain wasn’t working right and, despite recounting numerous times, for a while I was thinking it was 5 days. I was confused.

VeryGoodVeryNice · 15/12/2023 22:52

@MEFibroHell 🤣🤣 can completely relate to the covid brain, on top of the ME and menopause brain…I basically don’t have a brain at the moment.

Day four and I slept really well last night so am thinking the large glass of red and bowl of Wotsits I enjoyed in bed at 6pm may have helped.

I must admit, I am enjoying the excuse to stay in bed and do nothing. Usually my life is so busy I never stop, so this is just lovely.

VeryGoodVeryNice · 16/12/2023 11:23

@Perfectlystill i know what you mean, I was like right, nothing’s happening this week so I’m just going to clear my diary and lie here and watch the crown 🤣.

Well I woke up today just feeling distinctly un-covidy, hard to explain but just felt like myself again. So did a test and it was negative 🎉. They’ve all been firmly positive up until today.
