Does the Covid booster protect against the new variant?

Hello,

Just wondering if anybody knows, the Covid vaccine currently on offer, has it been updated to protect against the new strain?

I just had mine and yes they said it was an updated one for the new variant, it was Pfizer

I got my booster appt letter today (end Oct).
I tested postive for (I suspect the new variant) on Monday & I have been really ill.
I wish I'd been offered it a week ago!
