She is in her 70's, type 1 diabetes. How worried should we be??

FIL is currently in hospital with covid, he has heart problems and all sorts, we are already worried about him!

We go on holiday on Monday, my poor PIL's and my poor husband!

Has anyone had experience of elderly, diabetes and Covid??

I didn't even know there was the option for antivirals.

I suspect, if they work the same as CP antivirals, they may only be good if you take them after you have been exposed to the virus as opposed to taking them when you have the virus.

I will have a read, thank you!

DH (50) and FIL (78) are T1 and had covid / twice in DH's case. No antivirals given.

They were both absolutely fine - me and my teenagers (no diabetes) were far more ill with it.

The covid did send their blood sugars bonkers though and the usual excellent diabetes control they have went out the window- it was this that they felt most unwell with, not the covid. So they stayed in bed, ensured more regular blood testing and monitoring, they needed much more insulin than usual.

I hope she is ok and recovers well.
