Hi fellow mumsneters. I have been on mumsnet for a while but never started my own thread so please bear with me. Here goes.. So I had covid on 12th June was fine apart from sore head back pain fast forward 1 week 19th June testing negative but really bad cramps in stomach lower left side mostly but can be all over lower stomach headaches nausea pain in back feel urgency to go to bathroom for poo despite urgency can't go when wipe there is fresh blood with mucas then when I can go there is bright red blood through my stool this has been going on for 2 weeks this Monday went to gp on Wednesday who had to perform a rectal exam not the nicest anyway she ruled out hemorrhoids fissers all that took my temp said it was very high 39 said she thinks I may have a condition called diverticulitis percribed 2 loads of antibiotics metronidazole and amoxicillin for 1 week bloods took stool sample handed said if I feel shivery or any worse to go straight to a&e which has scared the life out me! Called today saying white blood cell count is low and could be caused by having covid previously to get bloods repeated in 2 weeks to rule out anything more sinister. Has anyone had covid and then experienced this diverticulitis as I'm wondering if it's linked and I'm also very scared as with blood in stools could be the c word as I have been Googling loads and now scared myself to death I'm 34 f mum of a 4 year old and a 15 month old both c-sections I don't know if this is all related but I would really like anyone's experiences with diverticulitis please as I have never heard of it sorry for long post thank you all :-)

I actually had diverticulitis about a month after having COVID last year BUT have had DV a couple of times before so a bit sceptical that it was connected. Your symptoms do sound like those I have had with DV - blood, fever, feeling (but not actually being) sick - so try not to worry too much and just see GP to get your bloods done again. Took me a few rounds of antibiotics last time I had it. It's also more common than you probably realise.

@passthegingordon thank you so much for reply. That does put my mind at ease a little bit so thanks I think it's just the blood that's the worry isn't it hopefully will get my stool sample results back soon and get bloods repeated and find out what's going on thank you
