Has anyone else and an extremely covid like illness - the lungs, the aches, the works but tested negative on covid tests? I've tested twice now as I'm utterly convinced the first test must have been wrong. It feel so much like covid.

Yes I started coming down with it last Wednesday and still today finding it hard to get out of bed. I have tested every day as I work in a care home and would not want to pass it on to anyone but it has been negative every time. I had covid last July and actually this feels worse. I can't wait to feel better.

Glad I'm not alone with it! It's horrendous.

Couple of weeks ago, every COVID symptom down to a tee. Still can't smell or taste a thing and still feeling run down, tired etc. 5 negative tests!

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 22/05/2023 19:21

I am currently suffering as well. 3 covid tests all negative. Aches and pains all over the body, so much coughing and snot, really breathless, splitting headache. Was in bed all weekend and had to call in sick today from work, and doubt I will be working tomorrow. Its awful.

Gherkingreen · 22/05/2023 19:22

I haven't had COVID (as far as I know, if I have it was entirely asymptomatic). Last Weds was away with work for the week, started with a sore throat and chills, turned into sneezes, bad headache, sore ears, bit of a cough.
Spent Fri evening, all Sat and lots of Sunday in bed. Still have headache, dizzy, feeling really cold and achey but have WFH today so am not feeling terrible.
Did a test over weekend, which was negative (though was a test from lockdown so not sure if it'll pick up current strains), so not sure if it is COVID or just a bad head cold/other virus.
Hope you're feeling better soon OP.

marshmallowmatcha · 22/05/2023 20:07

Yup totally, and with one of the kids too but then I guess symptoms are not unique are they

CorsicaDreaming · 22/05/2023 21:02

Yup! Same.
I've just written in length about my covid?not covid? Latest journey on the parent hospitalised thread...

I got covid last year too, and the test showed a big fat positive line immediately- this time not, but I'm fairly sure it was also Covid...

YetiTeri · 22/05/2023 21:05

Flu
RSV
Rhinovirus

The symptoms are similar because they're from your immune system not the virus itself.

bellocchild · 22/05/2023 21:14

Yes: us too. Exhausting.

Yummymummy2020 · 22/05/2023 21:21

I’ve been miserable and was getting negative tests until yesterday I got a big fat positive! I just knew it was likely that because it felt far too awful to simply be a cold. I was worried it was flu to be honest because I’m completely floored but it’s good old garden variety covid!

Blinky21 · 31/05/2023 17:38

The lft tests aren't reliable, I had covid after a meeting with 4 colleagues, we all got sick with the same symptoms, only I tested positive after five days of being unwell. If you have covid symptoms then it's almost certain it's covid

OliveTree75 · 11/06/2023 02:45

I’ve had aches and pains, temperature, headache, congestion and then a very sore throat this week. Turned out to be strep.
