Do you still need to isolate after 11 days positive?

A family member is now 11 days positive, the line is fainter and a bit of a cough and sniffles remain.

They have been isolating because they live in accommodation (shared communal areas) with some vulnerable people. Also I'm worried how being isolated for so long is affecting their mental health.

Do they have to continue isolation until 2 clear test?

I am autistic and stick to rules obsessively, as I get obsessive about transmitting germs. I have just started CBT.

No because I wouldn’t even know if I was positive as I wouldn’t test ! …done with covid , treat is a regular cold/cough

Yep. Same here too.

I realise I am lucky as I work from home, but I had a positive test for 17 days, and isolated for all of it. I know not everyone can, but you should if possible.

Yes, I'm sure she 'enjoyed' it. That's much more feasible than not wanting to pass it on. FFS! You can disagree without being a total arse.

People who don't test when they are actually ill and then go our germ spreading seem very selfish to me no matter what the rules say.

@fliptopbin sorry, I meant to quote @TooOldForThisNonsense. Apologies. I actually appreciate what you did.

Our dentist was happy after 10 days

Don’t be so daft. No one’s ever needed to isolate for 17 days! Whether she enjoyed it or not, it was wholly unnecessary, and certainly not something anyone else “should” be doing.

You weren’t sticking to the rules though. Which is fine, but it doesn’t mean everyone else “should” do that on your recommendation

So people are supposed to just keep buying tests are they?
