Are children still being vaccinated?

I have an 11 year old and a 13 year old both of whom have only had their first COVID vaccination. When I've tried to book a second I struggle to get an appointment within reasonable travelling distance. The nearest seem to be 40mins driving as a minimum. Most don't do vaccinations for under 16. Then when it does say they do vaccinations for over 5s and I ring and check only to find out they don't actually. Both kids in question have no underlying health conditions and both have had mild cases of COVID.

Are they still vaccinating children?

Would you bother trying to get a vaccination?

I would ask your GP surgery if they know what the situation is.

My understanding in my area is that vaccinations have stopped except for vulnerable children (my older DS fell in this camp so he has had 3 vaccinations). But despite getting the actual invitation for the third it was still very difficult finding out how to get it - who to talk to- where to go etc. In the end I rang the GP surgery and they said; 'Nothing to do with us, but here is who to contact'.

Hope that helps!!

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 17/04/2023 17:32

I wouldn’t bother. The only reason for healthy kids to be vaccinated was if you wanted to travel - and those restrictions are gone now.

MilkshakeEarthquake · 17/04/2023 17:33

mine aren’t vaccinated and never would have

PauseTheRain · 17/04/2023 19:03

I thought they'd stopped offering it, except for some vulnerable children. It's worth checking with GP though.

SpotTheCat · 17/04/2023 19:11

I took my similar aged kids for their second last week, had to go to outpatients dept at local hospital as part of their monthly vaccination clinic, all booked online. Wasn’t going to bother but close relative was recently added to vulnerable list and am doing all I can to protect them.

Our ds should get a booster soon, but only because he is vulnerable.

There is no truth to this. Comparing vaccination to child abuse is abhorrent.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 18/04/2023 03:11

My kids have had all their vaccines but not covid. They’re not clinically vulnerable, they don’t need it. I told the GP to stop sending me reminders

This with bells on. Absolute madness and I struggle to believe that any parent, after all this time and everything that's come out, would still want it for their children. There's no logic to it.

Hiheyho · 18/04/2023 07:41

No, would not give this one to my children

oreo2020 · 18/04/2023 07:48

Yes. For travel reasons. There are still countries (Kenya for that matter) that ask for covid vaccination or PCR test , and PCR test is £80 that I am not keen on paying out.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 18/04/2023 07:51

given what we now know about the poor safety record of the vaccines

Utter bollocks.

I think you need to understand what child abuse actually is

ThisOldThang · 18/04/2023 08:07

There's a reason that they stopped giving the AZN vaccine to under 40s. The risks of the vaccine were greater than the risk of covid. It's as simple as that.

FrenchandSaunders · 18/04/2023 08:07

No point whatsoever now,
there wasn’t before but even less so now.

who even mentions covid these days!

Bollocks to this.

There is no proof the vaccines are damaging, just a load of tin foil hat wearing idiots making up rubbish.

Downwithitall · 18/04/2023 08:17

Why on earth would anyone vaccinate a healthy child against covid?!? It makes absolutely no sense at all. No OP, I certainly wouldn't bother. None of my 3 children have had this 'vaccination' (and I use that term lightly as it certainly does not prevent infection).

GoldenAye · 18/04/2023 08:37

Agreed. Additionally, the poster appears to believe it is fine for vulnerable children to have a vaccine she thinks is so damaging, but absolutely not 'healthy' children. So grotesque.

PlainSkyr · 18/04/2023 08:41

Just got my 8 year old her second dose on the weekend gone. You can book the second online if you've done the first.

Seen the news today?

loulouljh · 19/04/2023 18:16

I would never give this vaccine to my kids...no idea if you can still get it or why you would want to.
