I was visiting an immunsuppressed 76 year old from Mon to Friday .
Returned home Friday late afternoon to partner hacking and coughing, clearly unwell .
Tested Sunday afternoon ,he was v strong positive ,mine was weaker .I'm feeling dreadful now .
My son has had an on off cough and sore throat for 2 or 3 weeks .Didn't test until yesterday when was clear.

Could I have passed it on to frail relative ? I had no symptoms until Sunday .

I suppose I mean what is the likelihood of me infecting someone during the week.

Yes it's possible that you were infected by partner on return, as current variants have shorter incubation period that original and can be as short as 2 days.

You can't completely rule out the idea that you had picked it up somewhere else and therefore might have been infectious on the last day/s of your visit.

So I'd warn the relatives and keep your fingers crossed that the (entirely possible) scenario that you got it from your partner on return is the correct one.

It is possible but I was around someone who had had covid and I developed symptoms 2 days later, tested positive 6 days in and I'm now on day 11 and feel absolutely awful. I'm certain I caught it 2 days before my symptoms started so it's possible you caught it the Friday you came home. Hope you feel better soon.

You too @Theglowofcandles ,I'm not feeling great.Guess I'd become complacent about this virus .I'm a healthy person but quite floored by this .

Thinking we need to be a bit more careful while we're all living with this now .

Don't know the answer but currently floored by Covid at the moment too and hoping I wasn't contagious when I saw my DM on Thursday. Avoided for 3 years! Meant to be going away a week today too. I'm hoping I'll be negative by then but am pretty sure my DD will get it at some point. Being a single parent sucks at times like this.
