Worsening sore throat?

I started with a stinging, burning throat on Tuesday - pretty mild, slight headache with it on Weds, no fever that I've noticed but this evening the pain in my throat has become sharper on one side and now I have low back pain. We're away on holiday so I can't test until I get back tomorrow. No cough or other symptoms, I don't feel brilliant and my appetite is reduced but I'm up and about.

I've had covid twice (Nov 2020, really unwell and in bed for 6 days, all the symptoms including delerium, diarrhoea, hair fell out etc) and July 2022 (felt awful and had an upset stomach but was only in bed for one day).

I'm nervous of getting covid again owing to its nasty way of suddenly getting worse on day 4-6 (as it did for me on my first round, I'd felt ropey for 4 days but been working, had no idea how much worse it would become from day 5 - 11).

Has anyone started a recent bout like this?

I am blowing my nose like mad with a horrid sore throat but feel totally fine in myself. I know about 5 people (none of whom have mixed with eachother) who have exactly the same. That sounds silly when i say it - but none of us are normally ill - we all commented its odd that we suddenly all have it!

Hmm, no sinus symptoms as yet - just the sore throat, and glands are painful as well. But still no fever and I feel mostly fine - maybe a bit off-colour and tired!

My husband’s latest bout of Covid included an incredibly painful sore throat. We had a holiday wrecked by it too.
I had aching legs and a very runny nose and sinus pain.

Hope you get better soon. Try a Difflam spray for the throat if you can get it, and cocodamol if the pain is worse.

Home now, severe sore throat, difficulty swallowing, swollen glands and feel pretty horrible - but covid test was a clean negative, and temp is normal.

I've had this sore throat on and off since before Christmas, although this is the worst it's been. Maybe it's strep.

My throat was the worst I’ve ever in all my life, had.
It lasted for days and days before, during and after Christmas and New Year.

Difflam or TCP gargle and ice packs on glands. Covid negative. All in my head, not chest. Dreadful. Took me a couple of weeks to get really well again after throat calmed down.

I resorted to Floradix Tonic (from chemist. There are several types) to boost my vitamin and iron levels during convalescence.

Take painkillers regularly.
Gargle regularly.
Grab whatever rest you can.
Eventually, one day soon you’ll feel you’ve turned a corner.
Get well soon.

Ugh. I do have body aches, took some drugs and managed to walk the dogs (so it can't be that bad, no dizziness yet), just had a shower and washed my hair and now I'm exhausted. And feel like I've swallowed a plate.

Sofa for the rest of the weekend I reckon!
