Are we meant to test primary school kids still?

So I wouldn't usually if DC had cold symptoms but I have covid myself (tested as i was due to see elderly parents and was feeling unwell) so there's a good chance this what is up with them too. But I thought I read advice somewhere that you're NOT meant to test kids now and just keep them off if they're too ill for school. DC is def well enough to go in. Am I supposed to test them or not?

If you have it, I would test. The NHS website says: If a child or young person aged 18 or under tests positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days. This starts from the day after they did the test.

There could be vulnerable people in the child's class, or they might have vulnerable parents, so it's not worth the risk

If you have it I'd probably just assume she does and keep her home for 3 days. That's what I did with DD (though it helped that it was half term) as she won't let me test her.

Tested and negative btw. So sent them in.
