How long after exposure are people testing positive?

I have been in contact with 2 people who have covid, they tested positive 2 days after I was in close contact with them.
How long are people finding it takes to test positive? I feel like I have a slight cold currently but testing negative.

I have heard recently of people experiencing symptoms but taking 5/6/7 days after symptoms start to get a positive test, is it that the LFTs aren't as accurate with detecting the current variants?

I don't know when I was exposed but I currently have covid. I felt like I was getting a cold on Thursday, felt worse on Friday morning and tested. Test came up a strong positive immediately.

We can't be sure but the only place we'd been was the doctors surgery on the Friday. Husband had symptoms on the Monday, very instant positive that evening.

I had no symptoms at that point and tested negative. Tuesday I had a sore throat but still testing negative, positive on Wednesday morning.

I was sneezing a lot but felt like I had a slight cold Tuesday am. Got a very slight faint positive result when I tested am by Tuesday evening it was very dark pink. I am still testing positive today but slightly less than last Tuesday evening and thats 7 days (but feel ok just feels like the very end of a cold left now). :-(

I think I got it on the Monday. Under the weather Thurs and Friday, but negative.
Positive on the Saturday and in bed on Sunday and Monday. Really odd how it takes a while to build up.
