How much should I be isolating with Covid?

Hi, I tested positive today, I’m so far feeling okay. Should we still be isolating at home? My DS isn’t a fan of staying home all day, and I was looking forward to taking him to soft play tomorrow. I have no idea what the guidance is, I would feel too selfish taking him to a soft play but then I hear we should treat it like a cold now 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I don't know why people don't understand that basic decency doesnt.pay bills and those people who.dont.have nice cosy work from home jobs still have to go into work as they don't get paid
over Xmas both my son and I dh,had a virus a ,my dh Was on a warning for having to much time off sick ( bereavement earlier in the year) so if he hadent gone into work,he would not only have not been paid but would have lost his job too ,it may well have been covid, they both had but there was no point in testing as it would have made no. Difference to his employer ,so yeah basic decency 🙄

Soft Play isn't work

Official guidance is 5 days not including day of test. If you're not planning on following the guidance though, I'm wondering why you tested?

Not all hospitals. My local one just asks for masks to be worn. I didn't even have to do a covid test before a planned inpatient admission.

My sister is awaiting cancer tests, 3 arthritis procedures and has COPD every appointment she has to have Covid tests two days before. My brother has to have them before seeing his team and I had to have them before my appointment last week 4 hospitals ....so maybe it's our region but they are definitely not treating it like a cold

Soft Play isn't work

It was in response to posters who think everybody should isolate ,I'm pointing out why people can't isolate .

Topseyt123 · 03/02/2023 18:26

I don't know anyone who is even testing anymore. I go places if I am well, if not then I don't.

I fully understand that people are not being paid to isolate anymore, that many simply can't work from home so will have to go in unless they are on their last legs.

I wouldn't go to soft play, though I see you didn't anyway. I disliked soft play though when mine were that age (long time ago now), so not having to grin and bear it through that would have been a great relief to be honest. 🤣

I think you DO treat it like a cold but when I have a cold, I try to avoid passing it on, so I work from home and order groceries online. I wouldn't go to a crowded place like softplay but I would (as others have said) be happy to go for a walk in the outdoors where I'm less likely to bump into people. Basically, just do what you can to avoid other humans for a bit. It's the kind thing to do.

I wouldn't go to a softplay but I would go out somewhere outdoors with lots of space per person.

But lots of you saying don't go here / there wherever would send your children to school?
Hence me having Covid.
I'm still very positive on day 6. Feeling rubbish but have worked the last 3 days.
It's just expected now.

That's the thing schools expect pupils in if they feel well enough covid positive or not I
workplaces also expect employees in
so I'm not sure why people are still saying people with covid should stay away from others ,when in real.life it's impossible too.

Rebel2023 · 05/02/2023 13:41

@x2boys our work doesn't but I appreciate we are lucky
Either WFH if well or off sick if sick
If you have covid (and obviously know you have it) they won't have you in the building

seratoninmoonbeams · 05/02/2023 13:54

Why did you even test if you are feeling ok?
