I am due to go for it tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tested positive on Tuesday.

Feel like I will hardly be well enough to go get it.

Not me but my relative has. Game changer for them. They felt shocking and are CEV (Stage 4 cancer) and It’s meant they are still with us. It’s not been a cure for them (I think they’ve got long covid) but it’s saved their life.

That is good to hear. This is the third time I have had Covid so I am hoping it works well.

Yes, a relative of mine in their 80s had it while in hospital (originally for something else) recently, after testing positive when almost ready for discharge otherwise. A drip, over a few days. They were only mildly unwell before starting it and soon got better again. It is impossible to say exactly how unwell they would have been otherwise (given their risk factors one wouldn't want to have chanced it). They didn't report any side effects (but obviously people vary, as do the precise drugs given and in what amount over what period of time, I should imagine).

Exh has had it twice, he said all his symptoms went within 48 hours.

Rebel2023 · 30/01/2023 00:36

Not the infusion but I had paxlovid and it really helped
I did rebound so tested negative then 4 days later got a sore throat and tested positive again which they warned me about

@Rebel2023 did you have to isolate the second time?

Dh is doing a great job of looking after me and the kids but I definitely think another period of isolation would break him. We have 2 ASD kids so I have been totally isolating from them

I did anyway as I wasn't particularly well and the covid at home team said I could still be contagious
Tested negative day 18

I am currently on day 3 of the infusion. I would say a little better but not much so far. Very tired. Still feel like have a massive dose of the cold.

They leave the canula where u get the infusion in for the three days. That's probably the biggest complaint so far.

On day 7 now.

The tiredness stayed for me unfortunately! I felt better as in no fever/headache but still wiped out

lljkk · 31/01/2023 19:11

I thought the infusion was shown to have very tiny effect?

Not sure on the infusion, I did hear they were phasing it out in favour of paxlovid (which has good stats)

Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden · 31/01/2023 22:07

Unfortunately Paxlovid isn't suitable with my condition.

sotrovimab was phased out as an infusion but this one is called Remdesivir so it's an anti viral rather than monoclonal antibody infusion.

I've heard (through good sources) that medics in US are trialling Paxlovid on some cev people that were not recommended it before iyswim. And Astra Zeneca are developing Evusheld 2. (Evusheld 1 currently only available privately here).

Hopefully more treatments and prophylactics will be available in the future.

In case @Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden or anyone is interested. Smile

I had the same infusion as you and can’t say it made a huge difference - it was certainly a few days before I felt symptoms reduce but without it that may have been the case anyway
