Will I get antiviral drugs

Ihad to shield during the pandemic (still am in reality) My mum was discharged from hospital on Wednesday after a 4 night stay, came home coughing, I started to feel rough on Friday, we both tested positive yesterday, I haven't stopped coughing since. Would I qualify for the antiviral drugs? I don't know why I was told to shield, I'm 56, disabled but have nothing as far as I know that affects my immune system.

I doubt it. I'm sure they're only giving them to blood cancer patients now.

Probably not, but you can call the GP and ask. It's the GP who makes the referral to the covid treatment hub (sorry can't remember the proper name).

DH is CEV and has a postage PCR test kit to send if he tests positive on LFT so he can get antivirals. Many people who were initially told they may qualify for antivirals have found they aren’t eligible any longer as the criteria have changed.

It doesn’t sound as if you are eligible if you don’t know why you were told to shield initially.
Are you included on the criteria here?

If you have had the recent booster you'll probably feel unwell but be ok. Try not to worry.

I haven't had the recent booster, my GP surgery dragged their feet because I am housebound, my mum had had her fourth jab & I still hadn't had my third, I haven't been offered the latest one yet & now because I have tested positive will have to wait at least a month before I can have it.

WednesdayFridayAddams I have Pancytopenia, Fibromyalgia & ME/CFS, it was when the Pancytopenia was added to my records that I got the shielding record.

My DD is immunosuppressed and we were told she would get anti virals. We followed all the procedures after she tested positive and received an email telling us we would get a call within 24 hours to assess her. Never heard a thing - the system didn't work. Thankfully she actually sailed through Covid better than the rest of us did.

My ds (12) was told to shield, he's just had Covid for the second time and this time he ended up in hospital, no mention of antivirals were made.

Same for me. I spent three days chasing. GP not interested, and rheumatology said I didn’t need them.

Fortunately, I wasn’t that unwell with Covid. Felt lousy and exhausted for a few days but I think I’ve had worse colds.
