Covid and hairdressers

Hi, just wondering what you would do. I have a hairdressing appt this week and they have a 24 hour cancellation policy, so should I cancel in last 24 hours then I lose a deposit. So my child now has Covid. if I catch Covid this week, should I go to the hairdressers and not tell them I have Covid? Or have to cancel at last min and lose my deposit?

Or do hairdressers not care anymore. Doesn’t matter if I have Covid and turn up at the hairdressers with a fever and coughing?

You’ve every right to go, but to be fair I’d tell them the problem and ask what they want you to do.

CosmoMint · 21/11/2022 10:18

Yes you are right. Maybe I am overthinking it. Chance I might not even catch it. Thank you

I told mine last Wednesday that I had tested positive and I had an appointment Friday am. They rescheduled without any hassle- they do not want their stylists getting Covid this close to Xmas.

Has covid not taught people anything? If you have an infectious disease - flu, covid, gastro stay away from others. I am autoimmune, I worked all the way through covid and still people put a bloody hair appointment before others. I despair of this world I really do, no-one has common sense any more.

SunshineAndSummer · 21/11/2022 10:40

Yes let them know because you wouldnt want it spreading amongst their workers who also go home to families an be possibly vulnerable people.

I would cancel the appointment, so many hairdressers are self employed and won't want time off sick. If you decide to go anyway can you wear a mask to protect them?

I'm constantly sickened by some people declaring they carry on as normal even if they have covid. Some people are so bloody selfish, I despair.

No thought for vulnerable people but those spouting "no need to test" will be the "be kind" pretend brigade.

Thanks. That’s good they were understanding about it. Yes I agree it wouldn’t be good for it to spread through all their staff

No, I agree, I wouldn’t put a hairdressing appt above spreading Covid around. But just wondering if hairdressers would be so understanding to let me reschedule and NOT lose my deposit, should I have Covid…..(Which I don’t have yet, but a risk I might get before appt as my child has it)

Because my hairdresser doesn’t mention any thing about Covid at all. They just said you will lose your deposit should you cancel in last 24 hours before appt. I said to them, what if I get ill and have to cancel? And they just said fingers crossed it doesn’t happen. 🙄🧐

I personally would ring up and ask what they would prefer you do. If they are okay for you to go in, then go but I expect they'd want to reschedule. I think you'd be more likely to keep your deposit if it's a mutual reschedule.

CosmoMint · 21/11/2022 11:04

Hope so @Choccyoclocky. i can see why hairdressers have these 24 hour cancellation policies in place, but I would hope they would be understanding if you were really ill with an infectious disease or Covid. 🙏🏼

If they're not understanding they only have themselves to blame if a client turns up with Covid!

chickidychick · 24/11/2022 18:10

Cancel it before the 24 hrs if possible
