Post menopausal yet I have a period every covid jab - anyone else?

Just curious really. Im 57 and theoretically post menopausal yet the last 18 months I have had a numner of periods, each one a few days after a covid jab, and also when I actually caught covid. So that's 5 periods now despite the fact I dont have them any more! Yes, I have been investigated and all is well. It really is covid/covid jabs that make me menstruate! is this a thing??

I had the same although I haven't hit the menopause yet. Been on the mini pill for four years and haven't had a period in all that time. I had periods after all my vaccines and just before I tested positive for covid last year. Had nothing since.

Beanbagtrap · 29/10/2022 19:44

In not in peri yet but the COVID jabs ruined my life for 6 months each time I've had one, they have me horrendous flooding.

alpenguin · 29/10/2022 19:54

having covid in march 2020 meant no period for 6 months alongside LCbut not had any issues since. I’m peri and had 6 vaccines now. It hasn’t changed my cycle in any way.

DoodlePug · 29/10/2022 19:56

Not me but my 51 year old friend, a few years into menopause, had the same.

I'll happily have every jab I can get but I'd like to know why this happens.

Remainiac · 29/10/2022 19:58

Yes it’s a thing. There’s research going on into it as so many post-menopausal women have reported it. I was in a Covid vaccine trial and 80% of the post-menopausal women in it reported this side effect. My bleeding lasted a year and I had to have an op to stop it.
The best guess is it’s an immune response but no doubt we’ll find out more in due course. You should report it using the yellow card system, which is a pain in the arse form to fill in but helps the powers that be to get a picture of how widespread it is.

garlictwist · 29/10/2022 20:09

I am not menopausal but take the pill back to back so I never have periods. I had a bleed after every vaccine (three for me as I am not being offered the fourth). It's a known side effect.

Imonita · 29/10/2022 20:11

@Remainiac Wow, 80%?? That's bonkers! Would love to know more. Mine tails off like a period does..sorry to hear you weren't so lucky 😔

@garlictwist So when you say its a known side effect, where did you find this out? I hadn't come across it.

Found out when I reported it to the trial and subsequently to the many medics involved in the investigations I had over the course of the year. My HRT specialist (private practice) said she’d lost count of the number of her patients (all post menopausal women obvs) who had mentioned it to her.
Doctors in the trial couldn’t have been less interested tbh. Just confirmed it seemed to be a thing and research was underway.

ihatethecold · 29/10/2022 20:25

Mine was really tender breasts after the latest 4th vaccine.
so uncomfortable like I was pregnant.

FortyFacedFuckers · 30/10/2022 18:37

I'm not menopausal but haven't had a period since I got a coil 4 years ago apart from after my covid vaccine!

Sleepwhatsthazzz · 30/10/2022 18:42

Funnily it delayed my period by near a week. I read on here thought that some woman was having fertility issues, had to have vaccine for ivf and got pregnant next cycle.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/10/2022 11:17

I had exactly the same. The majority of my friends had some kind of period disruption or break though spotting even though menopausal.

Freddosforall · 01/11/2022 10:36

So many of my friends have reported funny / odd / heavy bleeding after covid jabs. It annoys me that once again "wimmins issues" seem to have been neglected in the trials.

What do you mean by neglected?

Trials followed all reported side effects - because things like myocarditis and changes to the menstrual cycle are relatively rare, they couldn't be detected in samples of that size.

One billions of people were vaccinated, this gave enough statistical power to detect rare events, and now that is has been confirmed, heavy bleeding has been added as a side effect.

I have endo so fully sympathetic to women's health issues being neglected (I was fobbed off for years), but i didn't see this regarding the vaccines.

NIH have invested millions into examing the impact of COVID, the vaccines & the pandemic on women's health outcomes - has been linked on a previous thread or maybe this one.

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 07:54

Why do you keep having them?

Brownlongearedbat · 05/11/2022 10:46

Exactly, why do you? Do you think that the vaccine having this effect on your body is normal?

strupel · 05/11/2022 12:55

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 07:54

Why do you keep having them?

Presumably because she is following advice and vaccination is recommended for her age group/clinical status, and she does not find this side effect problematic.

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 13:09

Unbelievable!!!

Yes it's unbelievable that people are still taken in by this nonsense and insist on posting it all over mumsnet.

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 14:06

What that people believe those making millions out of pushing the jab rather than reputable scientists snd doctors who are ostracised snd in many cases out of work for trying to ‘do no harm’!

Why are you spamming every thread with this, and refusing to engage with anyone pointing out there's no basis for your claims?

dontknowwhatisbest · 05/11/2022 14:31

At the other end of the spectrum, DD(12) got her first period 3 days after her covid vaccination. Obviously that could be absolute coincidence, but it did occur to me that there could be a link.
