Day 6 since positive test (7 since symptoms)

fevers subsided after day 3 but since then complete loss of taste/smell and fatigue which I have never experienced in my life. I have just woke up from 12 hr sleep and feel so tired still. I have no get up and go energy to do anything!

my main worry is the taste issue. I’ve been scaring myself looking at Facebook groups of people this lasts 18+ months. I know it’s listed as a common symptom but very little stories of people who’s taste comes back within a few days etc. anyone??

Mine took about 2 weeks. I kept sniffing strong smelling things (perfume, shower gel) and using things like mouthwash and eating marmite. It took a while to come back to complete normal and occasionally I can still smell smoke/burning which only happened post covid but mostly it’s all fine

I can reassure: my covid started on 14th Oct. Like you had fever few days and then by day 3/4 started lose smell and taste and lost completely for few days but smell returned gradually first, by day 6/7 and taste gradually there after. Stopped testing positive yesterday - day 15, but still feel a bit chesty and tired but smell/taste pretty much back to normal. Like you, I was worried it might go for longer. Hope this helps.

Thanks both. I have noticed that I can smell things faintly very close up to my nose. The most i have tasted has been thick marmite on toast.

My sense of taste started to come back around day 12. It came back one taste at a time, bitter came first, sweet came back last. Don’t try drinking gin and tonic when you can only taste bitter.

2 weeks for me. 3 for DH. Exhaustion lasted longer but was back to normal in about 8 weeks.

Yep, a couple of weeks for me, too. I had totally lost smell and taste, but it's come back now.

It was back within a week for me (first time covid). The second time I caught covid I didn’t lose it at all. Sorry OP I know it’s horrible but it will come back - in fact I’d suggest it’s already on its way back seeing as you can smell things faintly up close.
